Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway inspects Mangaluru – Kannur Section

Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway conducted annual inspection in Mangaluru – Kannur Section on 21.12.2021. Shri Trilok Kothari, Divisional Railway Manager of Palakkad Division, Principal Heads of Departments, other officers and staff accompanied the General Manager.

  • In the morning Shri John Thomas reviewed the status of various passenger amenities at Mangaluru Central. 
  • He inspected the Concourse, 2nd Entrance, New PRS counter etc., GM also inspected the newly commissioned Electronic Interlocking Cabin at Mangaluru Central and participated in a tree plantation drive. 
  • In the parking lot, GM inspected the Exhibits of various departments showcasing their innovative prototypes and distributed spot awards and merit certificates for their outstanding works. 
  • He interacted with Various Passenger Associations, Zonal and Divisional Consultative Members and press and media and detailed about the various o­ngoing projects in the Palakkad Division.
  • General Manager inaugurated the Railway Institute at Mangaluru which provides recreation facilities for staff and family members. 
  • The General Manager visited the Mangaluru Railway Colony and interacted with the residents.
  • Later, the General Manager inspected the Railway Health Unit facility at Mangaluru Central and interacted with the Doctors, matrons and Paramedical staff.

Other Inspections:  

  • He appreciated the altruistic service rendered during the COVID pandemic and felicitated them with merit certificates and awards.  
  • At Kulasekara Station, the General Manager inspected the existing tunnel including the new tunnel which is under construction.
  • At Padil, GM inspected the Landslip site and held a review meeting with the officers and called for better preparedness during heavy rains.
  • General Manager conducted a Speed Trial between Nethravathi to Kasaragod and inspected major and minor bridges enroute including Level Crossing gates.
  • The team of Senior Officials of Southern Railway inspected Yard and reviewed the proposed Electronic Interlocking arrangement  at Panambur, Traction Substation at Jokatte and various Points and crossings, Sidings and staff facilities at enroute stations in Mangaluru – Kannur Section.
