Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Metro Railway Kolkata has reviewed the progress of different on-going Metro projects at a high level meeting on 05.07.2021. He stressed on completing the on-going Metro projects within the stipulated time and also to take required steps to enhance safety arrangements in order to provide better services to the Metro commuters.
- Shri Joshi was also briefed about the vaccination drive presently undertaken at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital.
- He instructed all concerned officials to complete vaccination of all Metro staff and their beneficiaries at the earliest.
Maintenance Special Services:
Meanwhile, to ensure social distancing in Metro premises and trains, Metro Railway Kolkata will run 90 (45 UP & 45 DN) Maintenance Special Services instead of 62 Maintenance Special Services from 05.07.2021 (Monday).
- In the morning, the first service will leave from Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash at 08:30 hrs (no change in timing) and the last service will leave from Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash at 11:30 hrs (no change in timing).
- In the evening, the first service will leave from Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash at 15:45 hrs (no change in timing) and the last service will leave from Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash at 19.00 hrs (instead of 18:30 hrs).
- These services will ply at an interval of 8 minutes during peak hours from Monday to Saturday (instead of 11-12 minutes).
- There will be no services on Sunday.
- Essential staff associated with health care, veterinary service, law and order, court, social welfare homes, bank, correctional services, power, drinking water supply, telecom, internet, fire services, disaster management and civil defence, sanitation, NGO and Private Sector associated with essential services, food and beverages, insurance, press, sewerage and funeral services etc. can avail these services with proper ID and Metro Smart Cards.
- No tokens will be issued.
- All commuters availing these services are requested to maintain social distancing and all other Covid Protocols strictly in Metro premises and on the trains.
Project Update:
Meanwhile, Commissioning of Sealdah Metro station to extend services upto Sealdah is being planned and phased works are accordingly in progress.
- To review the on-going works, General Manager/Metro Railway Shri Manoj Joshi along with MD/ KMRCL Sri Manas Sarkar, Director/ Project/ KMRCL, Principal Head of Departments of Metro Railway and DRM, Sealdah, E. Rly., inspected the station on 01.07.2021.
- Station commissioning work and installation of various equipment related to Signalling, Air-Conditioning, Power Supply, Platform Screen Door and track etc were inspected by the General Manager and his team.
- He held detailed discussions with the MD/ KMRCL & Director/ Project of KMRCL at the site.
- Head of the Departments of KMRCL and other experts were also present during the discussions.
- General Manager was satisfied with the progress of the ongoing works by KMRCL.
- The completion of station work is likely to take about 06 months.
- In the meantime, train testing up to Sealdah is planned to start by the end of July’21 which is an important activity for getting the signalling system certified by the Independent Safety Auditor.
- The completion of the work at Sealdah is a challenging work since the winding up of TBM activities is also being done at west-end which has bearing on the completion of the station work and commissioning.
- This extension of East-West Corridor upto Sealdah is going to benefit suburban passengers coming to Sealdah and going towards New Town.
