Highlights:
SWR received a total budget grant of Rs. 3,245 Cr. from the Ministry of Railways (including EBR (IF),EBR(IRFC) etc. ),which is the highest ever grant , after formation of the zone in 2003.
Bengaluru Suburban:
Under pink book of Northern Railway, budget grant of Rs.800 Cr. has been set aside for “Equity infusion into joint ventures (with state governments)”. Presently two JVs are executing major projects – one in Haryana of project cost of Rs. 5000 Cr. plus and one in Karnataka of Rs. .18000 Cr.+ The project in Karnataka is Bengaluru Suburban being executed by KRIDE, a joint venture of Ministry of Railways and State Government of Karnataka. For this project which minimum of Rs 300 Cr will be allotted by Ministry of Railways. Equivalent Amount from Government of Karnataka is also expected apart from loans from market.
As emphasized by Hon’ble MR in last review meeting of Bengaluru Suburban project, this is one of the top most priority projects of Railways , will be given tremendous thrust and any amount of capital will be pumped into the project as per requirement and pace of work.
105 Km of doubling completed and 66 Km planned this year. 203 Km doubling targeted in 2021-22
110 Rkm of electrification completed and 309 Rkm planned this year. 849 Rkm targeted in 2021-22.
Along with these major Projects, for the convenience of Public, SWR has constructed 6 ROBs and 31 RUBs. SWR is set to complete 3 more ROB and 10 RUB/Subways this year which will help public.
Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR opined that this budget is historic, considering the huge investment for creating Railways in accordance with National Rail Plan. He said that several ongoing infrastructure works will get impetus with 20% increased allotment.
