Looking at the popularity and growing demand by the commuters, Western Railway has decided to increase the number of AC local services over Mumbai Suburban section with effect from 20th June, 2022. With the introduction of 8 new AC services, the total number of AC services will now increase from 32 to 40 on Western Railway.
More details:
- According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, with the reduction of fares for AC local journey tickets w.e.f 5th May, 2022, there has been a substantial rise in the number of commuters travelling by AC locals.
- Recently, WR introduced 12 more AC local services w.e.f 16th May, 2022. Looking into the demand and the popularity of AC locals, WR will be introducing 8 more AC local services w.e.f 20th June, 2022 for the comfort and convenience of the commuters.
- It is pertinent to mention that these 8 services will run from Monday to Friday only. On Saturdays and Sundays 32 AC services will be available and the remaining 8 services will run with non AC rakes.
Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, further stated that, out of the additional 8 services being introduced, 4 services each are in UP & DOWN directions. In the UP direction, there is one service each between Virar – Churchgate, Virar – Dadar, Vasai – Churchgate and Malad – Churchgate. Similarly, in the DOWN direction, there is one service each between Dadar – Virar, Churchgate – Virar, Churchgate – Vasai and Churchgate – Malad.
