Eastern Railway has increased the sectional speed from 110 kmph to 130 kmph in the critical 143 km long double line section between Sitarampur and Jhajha. This vital section in the Asansol Division supports numerous important 74 Mail/Express Trains including Howrah – New Delhi – Howrah Rajdhani Express (via Patna), Howrah-Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, Howrah-New Delhi-Howrah Duronto Express, Howrah – New Delhi – Howrah Poorva Express, Sealdah-Ballia-Sealdah Express & Sealdah-Jaynagar-Sealdah Ganga Sagar Express and 39 Goods trains.
Benefits of Speed Enhancement:
The increased speed will ensure more punctual train operations within the Division. Improved speed will enhance the overall line capacity, allowing for smoother and more efficient train movements. On an average, 8 minutes for Vande Bharat Trains and 11-12 minutes for LHB trains will be saved due to the increase of sectional speed in this section.
