Kanpur Metro achieves milestone: Successfully completes all precast structures of Baradevi-Naubasta section

Kanpur Metro achieved a key milestone with the completion of casting for all pre-cast structures, including the final U-girder for the Baradevi-Naubasta section. The final U-girder, marking the completion of the 348th structure, was cast for the elevated section under Corridor-1, which extends from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta.

More Details:

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of the Kanpur Metro project. The casting of all precast structures, including Pier caps, Double – T girders, and I – girders, for the elevated section has been successfully completed. This includes the casting of the 348th and final U – girder for the Baradevi to Naubasta elevated section under Corridor-1, which extends from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta.

The Alignment of Corridor -1 is described in detail in following sub sections:

  • IIT Kanpur – Moti Jheel Section
  • Switch Over Ramp from Elevated to Underground
  • Chunniganj to Transport Nagar
  • Switch Over Ramp from Underground to Elevated
  • Baradevi Chauraha to Naubasta

Baradevi Chauraha to Naubasta Section:

  • The proposed section is elevated consisting of 5 elevated stations namely, Baradevi Chauraha, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Baudh Nagar and Naubasta.
  • The alignment crosses a four lane elevated bypass of NH-25 (Jhansi – Allahabad Road) as double elevated.

  • To cross the elevated bypass of NH-25 including its service roads, a central span of 45m will be required for metro alignment at RL of 16.6 m above existing ground level and about 9.8m above elevated road.
  • This can be done by either 34m + 45m + 34m span configuration by Cantilever construction method or 45m span steel span.
  • Naubasta elevated station is the terminal station of Corridor-1 and reversal facilities have been planned at this station.
  • Separate entry to the stabling yard has been proposed from Naubasta station. An area of 6.75 Ha of Govt. land has been proposed for stabling facilities.
  • A portion of road falling in the proposed depot area will be required to be diverted along the outer perimeter of depot land.

Conclusion:

This achievement not only signifies the excellent progress of the Kanpur Metro project but also highlights the commitment of UPMRC and its partners to deliver efficient and modern transportation solutions for the city.
