Kanpur Metro reaches new milestone: Steel box girder placed at Naubasta crossing

In a significant development in Kanpur transportation system, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has recently placed a steel box girder at Naubasta crossing for viaduct construction, connecting Kidwai Nagar to Vasant Vihar station of Kanpur Metro rail project.

More Details:

Kanpur Metro has achieved another significant milestone with the installation of a steel box girder at Naubasta crossing for the viaduct construction. This vital structure connects Kidwai Nagar to Vasant Vihar station. The first segment of both girders has been successfully erected. Spanning 45 metres, the structure will cross the Delhi-Kolkata Highway without the need for pillars, showcasing impressive engineering and design.

Naubasta Crossing:

  • Naubasta elevated station is the terminal station of Corridor-1 and reversal facilities have been planned at this station. The alignment crosses a four lane elevated bypass of NH-25 (Jhansi -Allahabad Road) as double elevated.
  • To cross the elevated bypass of NH-25 including its service roads, a central span of 45m will be required for metro alignment at RL of 16.6 m above existing ground level and about 9.8m above the elevated road. This can be done by either 34m +45m + 34m span configuration by Cantilever construction method or 45m span steel span.

Kidwai Nagar to Vasant Vihar Station:

The Kidwai Nagar and Vasant Vihar, both are elevated stations, are part of the Corridor 1 of of Kanpur Metro rail project, stretches from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta.

  • Kidwai Nagar is an elevated station located on the central verge of Hamirpur Road (NH-86) near Gosala chowk.
  • Major connecting roads are Keshav Nagar-Kidwai Nagar Road and service roads of NH-2 bypass.
  • Catchment area of the station comprises residential cum commercial area of Ashok Nagar, Kanjar Purwa, Saket Nagar, Usmanpur, Keshav Nagar and Kendranchal Colony in the west and RBI colony, SBI colony, Kidwai Nagar in the east.
  • Vasant Vihar is an elevated station proposed on the central verge of Hamirpur Road (NH-86) near Dassu Kunwa Chauraha. Major connecting roads are Pipeline Road and Mohamad Ali Marg.
  • Catchment area of the station comprises residential cum commercial areas of Vasant Vihar, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in the west and Dhansingpur, Yashodha Nagar, Pashupathi Nagar in the east.

Conclusion:

With the above achievement, Kanpur Metro continues its development run. This achievement highlights the commitment of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) to take up and execute complex projects in a quality and efficient manner in order to provide world-class transportation facilities to the passengers.
