KEC International completes U-Girder erection under DMRC Phase-4 project

In a remarkable feat, KEC International has achieved a significant milestone by completing the erection of a 3.09 km U-Girder using a launching girder for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Phase-4 project. This remarkable feat highlights their engineering expertise and commitment to advancing urban infrastructure.

The KEC International, as part of a joint venture, was awarded the tender number DC-01 by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This tender involves the design and construction of an elevated viaduct, an elevated ramp, a siding line, and ten elevated stations. This project is a part of the extension of Line-8 in Phase IV of the Delhi Metro project.

Scope of Work under the Contract:

The work include, Part Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct, Elevated Ramp, Siding line and Ten Elevated Stations viz. Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi, Mangolpuri, West Enclave, Pushpanjali, Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar & North Pitampura (Excluding Architectural Finishing works of stations, Steel FOB & PEB works of stations) from Chainage 2831.235 mt. to 15206.166 mt. of Janakpuri West to R.K.Ashram Corridor (Extn. of Line-8) of Phase-IV of Delhi MRTS.

  • Design & construction of Pile foundation, Pile cap, Pier, all types of Piers including Cantilever & Portals, Pedestals, Cross Arm, Extended Pier cap, Cantilever Pier cap, Table top Pier cap, Portal Beams and other structures.
  • Construction of superstructure of standard U-Girder span (28m) and all other spans up to 28 m for straight and for curves more than 300m radius, Pier cap, Bearing (Elastomeric) & crash barrier as per tender drawing.

  • The design of standard span U-Girder, standard Pier Cap, bearing (Elastomeric), bearing pedestal & crash barrier for these spans shall be provided by DMRC. Also, the reinforcement in the U-Girder, standard Pier Cap & bearing pedestal shown in tender drawing is the minimum reinforcement to be provided.
  • However, in case the contractor assesses that the reinforcement has to be increased then the same shall be provided after approval of DMRC without any extra cost.
  • Design and construction of non-standard spans, I – Girder/ T – Girder spans, spans at crossover location and spans in sharper curvature wherever necessary or instructed by engineer.
  • Design and construction of all station building, additional floors within station premises, Ground, Con-course, Platform, Entry/Exit structures, Corridor, Ancillary building i.e. Underground/surface water tank, Pump room & DG room, Lift shafts, Escalator pits, Staircases as shown in tender drawings.
