Conference on “Railways & Urban Transport”

Indian Railways is undergoing a paradigm shift after battling with lack of investments, depleting market share and falling financial health for years. The shift is manifested in an USD 142 Billion investment plan over 2015-19 and doubling this investment figure in the next five year cycle. Currently, Indian Railways, the 4th largest railway network in the world faces lot many challenges like under investment, operational inefficiencies, stranded projects, cross subsisidization, insufficient & aging infrastructure, amongst others. Challenges on the infrastructure front are severe as they are impacting freight movement, customer service and safety aspects.

On this backdrop, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a Conference on “Railways & Urban Transport” on 6th February 2018 at 0930 Hrs at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Conference’s objective is to focus on critical areas relevant to the Indian Railways; assessing the available contemporary global technologies & practices and their adoption; create a basis of recommendations to be made for the consideration of the Ministry of Railways, Govt of India; focus on Urban Transport with emphasis on “Intelligent, Inclusive & Sustainable Mobility”
