Ahmedabad Metro update: Tenders invited for Supply of Fully Automatic Train Wash Plant for Phase-I

The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has invited e-tenders for “ Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Two Sets of Fully Automatic Train Wash Plant for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I”.

General Description:

  • Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited, [Formerly known as Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company Ltd.] is the Special Purpose Vehicle of Government of India and Government of Gujarat implementing the Phase I of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. 
  • The sanctioned Detailed Project Report (DPR) envisages two corridors viz. 
  • East-West corridor, of approximately 19.44 Km length with 17 stations and North-South corridor of approximately 18.49 Km length with 15 stations, comprising of at-grade, elevated and underground sections. 
  • The mode of traction is 750V dc Third Rail. 
  • The track will be of Standard Gauge (1435 mm). 
  • On the East-West corridor a maintenance depot along with full workshop facilities is envisaged at Apparel Park. 
  • On the North-South corridor a maintenance depot along with full workshop facilities is envisaged at Gyaspur. 
  • An Integrated Operation Control Centre (OCC) for both the corridors is proposed at Apparel Park Depot and a Back-up Control Centre (BCC) at Gyaspur Depot. 
  • The complete work is proposed to be brought into operational use in various stages. 
  • The work in this Tender document comprises Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Two Sets of Fully Automatic Train Wash Plant, one set each at Gyaspur and Apparel Park Depots, supply of spares and tools and the training of operation and maintenance personnel of the Purchaser.

Source of Funds:

  • Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I is financed partly through budgetary resources of Government of Gujarat (GoG) and Government of India (GoI) on equal equity basis (50:50) and partly through loans from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).  
  • This work for Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Two Sets of Fully Automatic Train Wash Plant is funded by contribution of Government of Gujarat (GoG) and Government of India (GoI) and not through JICA loan. It will be Local Competitive Bidding. Tender will not require JICA concurrence at any time/stage.

About Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I:

  • The total length of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I is 40.03 kms, out of which, one stretch of 6.5 kms is already functional from March 2019 and the balance 33.5 kms is at an advanced stage which is expected to be completed by August 2022, coinciding with the 75th year of India’s independence.
  • North-South Corridor: 
    • North-South Corridor with a length of 18.87 km will connect Motera Stadium to APMC, Vasna and will be passing through Sabarmati, AEC, Sabarmati Railway station, Ranip, Vadaj, Vijaynagar, Usmanpura, Old High court, Gandhigram, Paldi, Shreyas, Rajivnagar and Jivraj stations. 
    • North-South Corridor will be completely elevated with 15 stations.
  • East-West Corridor: 
    • The length of the East-West Corridor is about 21.16 km with 17 stations in the route. 
    • This corridor will connect Vastral Gam to Thaltej Gaam and will be passing through Nirant Cross Road, Vastral, Rabari Colony, Amraiwadi, Apparel Park, Kankaria East, Kalupur Railway Station, Ghee Kanta, Shahpur, Old High Court, Stadium, Commerce Six Road, Gujarat University, Gurukul Road, Doordarshan Kendra, Thaltej stations. 
    • In the East-West corridor, approximately 6.5 km is the underground section with 4 underground stations and the rest is the elevated section with 13 elevated stations.
    • Old High Court station will be an interchange station for both the corridors.
