Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Update: 44 railway stations to redevelop in Maharashtra

Modern infrastructure is being constructed at a rapid pace to give further impetus to rail development in Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, a rail budget allocation of Rs 13539 crore has been made in the financial year 2023-24, which is 1056% more than the average Budget allocated between the years 2009 to 2014.

More Details:

  • The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was launched to redevelop 1309 stations across the country which includes 76 stations of Central Railway. Out of these 1309 Stations, foundation stone for redevelopment of 508 stations is being laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi o­n 6th August 2023, of which 44 stations were of Maharashtra that includes 28 stations of Central Railway,13 stations of South Central Railway and 3 stations of South East Central Railway.

  • Under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, these railway stations will be equipped with world class facilities like Air Concourse, Waiting Room, Executive Lounge, Food Court, Lifts, Escalators will be available at the station. Provision has also been made for disabled friendly facilities and underground parking.
  • These stations will have multimodal connectivity with city bus and other transport. The Structures developed under this scheme will be designed as green buildings. There will be arrangements for solar energy, water conservation and rainwater harvesting.

  • Redevelopment of stations in Maharashtra will make the journey of passengers more convenient and comfortable and increase tourism industry and employment in the state.
