Chennai Metro Explores Mass Rapid Transit from Madhavaram to Nallur Toll Plaza

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has taken a significant step towards enhancing urban mobility with the signing of a Contract Agreement for the “Preparation of Traffic Demand Forecasting report” to study the feasibility of a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) connecting Madhavaram (MMBT) to Nallur Toll Plaza.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited signed the Contract Agreement for “Preparation of Traffic Demand Forecasting report for studying the feasibility of Mass Rapid Transit System from MMBT to Nallur toll plaza” with M/s Almondz Global Infra-Consultant Limited & M/s Four Wall Consultancy (JV Consortium) on 30th January, 2024.

  • The scope of work involves preparation of a traffic demand forecasting report for feasibility of a Mass Rapid Transit System from MMBT to Nallur toll plaza for a 10 km corridor.
  • The Contract Agreement was signed by Mr. T. Archunan, IRSE – Director (Projects) on behalf of CMRL and Mr. K. R. Kumar – President, M/s Almondz Global Infra-Consultant Limited & Mr. R. Thanigaivel – Project Manager, M/s Four Wall Consultancy.
  • Mr. T. Livingstone Eliazer, Chief General Manager (PP&D), Dr. D. Jebaselwin Gladson, General Manager (CM), Mr. Anto Jos Menachery, General Manager (UG), and Officials from CMRL, Consultant were present during the occasion.

This strategic move signifies Chennai’s commitment to fostering sustainable urban transportation solutions, paving the way for potential advancements in the city’s Mass Rapid Transit infrastructure.
