Chennai Metro invites bids for Heavy Duty Machine-Room-Less (MRL) Elevators for Corridor 3 & 5 of Phase-2 Project

In a move to enhance infrastructure, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has initiated a tender process for the Heavy Duty Machine-Room-Less (MRL) Elevators for Corridor 3 & 5 of Phase-2 Project.

Brief about Tender Submission:

Name of Work: Design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Heavy Duty Machine Room Less Lifts for CMRL Phase-2, Corridor-3 (From Madhavaram Milk Colony Metro to Sholinganallur Metro) & Corridor-5 (From Madhavaram Depot Metro to Koyambedu Metro stations including Madhavaram Depot).

The alignment of above corridors, number of stations and revenue opening date may change during the design and construction stage. The Operation Control Centre (OCC) for Phase 2 has been planned at Madhavaram Depot.

Scope of Works:

Providing approx. 239 No. of Machine-room less & Gearless Lifts at Stations Building for the movement of Passengers including disabled persons. All minor civil works including but not limited to pocket cutting, buffer blocks, machine foundation, truffing, holes for armoured cable entry, louvres and cutouts (by providing proper size wooden blocks to civil contractors) or modifications required for installation of the equipment and restoring to final finishes. The lift contractor shall coordinate with Designated Contractor for proper fixing of load hook as per site requirement.

  • Transportation of materials and equipment for installation purposes.
  • Supply of Spare parts, special tools, testing and diagnostic equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Shaft lighting (Bulkhead + Switch and socket + complete wiring) and all Scaffolding works required for Lifts systems.
  • Training and Transfer of Technology.
  • Documentation.
  • Defect Liability period (DLP) for specified period.
  • Services as in clause 3.3.
  • The details of the above works are given in the relevant Chapters of this Specification.
  • Maintenance for specified period

Lift Intercommunication System:

The Contractor shall provide a Lift inter-communication between the Lift Car, main control cubicle and SCR/EFO/OCC room consisting of master and slave stations. Refer Annexure- D, Interface Sheets of Appendix 16, Interface Management, General Specifications, Part-2 Employer’s Requirements for details. The scope from SCR to OCC shall not be in L&E contractor scope.

A master station shall be supplied and installed in the Station Control Room (SCR)/Excess Fare Office (EFO). All intercom stations shall be equipped with handsets except those slave stations installed inside Lift cars, which shall be of the hands free type. A slave station shall be supplied and installed in the main control cubicle and also in each Lift car.

The loudspeaker and microphone unit of the slave station shall be concealed in the car operating panel. It should be possible to decipher the identity of calling Lift at the SCR/EFO. The Lifts (inside and outside) should also be numbered at each station for the purpose of easy identification.

The necessary cabling, conduits including from SCR/EFO to main control cubicle etc. shall be provided by the Lift Contractor with proper interfacing with designated Contractor. Routing shall be finalised with the designated contractors before fixing of the false ceiling in the Metro stations.

Eligibility:

Minimum average annual turnover of INR 55 Crores calculated as total certified payments received for Contracts in progress and/or completed, within the last Five (5) years divided by Five (5) years.

Work Experience:

Experience in “Design, Manufacturing, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Heavy Duty Machine Room Less Lifts” for Metros / Airport / RRTS/Sub- urban Railways/Railways in the role of Prime contractor (Single entity of JV member (iv) ) must have been satisfactorily and substantially (i),(ii),(vi) completed between 1 st January 2013 and the bid submission deadline, A minimum number of:

  • One work (i) involving Lifts Contracts as specified above for the value of INR 60 Cr (ii) or above, or
  • Two works (i) each involving Lifts Contracts as specified above for the value of INR 40 Cr (ii) or above, or
  • Three works (i) each involving Lifts Contracts as specified above for the value of INR 30 Cr (ii) or above.

This tender initiative underscores the commitment of CMRL towards providing hassle free commuting for the passengers including differently abled & elderly persons and CMRL O&M staff at various stations of Phase-2 Network.
