Chennai Metro organises meeting with business development consultants to provide commercial spaces inside metro stations and for various land parcels

Chennai Metro Rail Limited organised a meeting with CMRL Empanelled business development consultants who will provide Transaction Advisory Services including Bid Process Management Services for retail spaces inside Chennai Metro Rail Stations and for various Land Parcels.

  • Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance) of CMRL, presided over the meeting in the presence of Mr. R.M. Krishnan, CGM (P & BD), Mr. R. Narendrakumar, JGM (P & BD), Empanelled Business Development Consultant and other senior officials and staff of CMRL were present during the meeting.
  • Further empanelled business development consultant provides support CMRL by identifying investors or occupiers for CMRL Land Parcels, which is suitable for commercial, retail, hospitality, healthcare, warehousing & industrial by their market expertise & deep knowledge in real estate market and act as bridge for Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
  • The property development ranges from 3000 Sqm to 10,000 Sqm located adjacent to Nehru Park, Saidapet, Arumbakkam, Pachaiyappa’s College, Central Square, Mannadi, Wimco Nagar and Koyambedu Metro Stations.

Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance) of CMRL, stated that the consultant is empanelled to enhance the CMRL non fare box revenue by identifying the potential commercial retail operators who are looking for business opportunity or office space at various commercial spaces available with CMRL.

About CMRL:

  • The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, operates the Chennai Metro. It is the third longest metro system in India after Delhi Metro and Hyderabad metro.
  • The Phase-I of Chennai Metro Rail project covers a length of 45.046 km network and consists of two corridors i.e. Corridor-I (Blue Line) – From Washermenpet to Airport (23.085 Km), Corridor -2 (Green Line) – From Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount (21.961 km).
  • About 55% of the corridors in Phase-I are underground and the remaining elevated. Out of 32 nos of stations 13 nos are elevated stations and the remaining 19 nos are underground stations.
  • Inter corridor interchange stations are available at Alandur (Elevated) station and Chennai Central (Underground) station respectively. The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project.
