Chennai Metro witness gradual increase daily in its passenger count since February 2022

CMRL has been witnessing a gradual increase in its passenger count since February 2022. On an average, the passenger flow used to be at 81,000 per day in January 2022. However, the passenger flow has gradually increased from 81,000 per day to 1.13 Lakh in February 2022, 1.43 Lakh in March 2022, 1.51 Lakh in April 2022 and 1.59 in May 2022.

More details:

  • The gradual increase in passenger flow was only possible through several amenities and facilities provided by CMRL to its passengers. During weekends and holidays, there has also been a significant increase in passengers to 1.3 Lakh.
  • For the convenience of Metro Rail passengers and Public, 12 minibuses are presently being operated on 6 routes on behalf of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
  • To facilitate more passengers and also for providing Last Mile Connectivity measures for travelling all Metro Stations, an additional 10 more minibuses on 5 additional routes are being planned and will be operated soon.
