In a landmark move, Chennai Metro Rail Limited and Construction Industry Development Council have formalised a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation at Metros, Nandanam, Chennai. This strategic collaboration aims to advance both the Construction and Metro Rail Sectors, fostering growth, efficiency, and innovation.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation at Metros, Nandanam, Chennai, marking a collaborative effort to advance the Construction and Metro Rail Sectors. The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Mr. T. Archunan, Director (Projects), CMRL, and Mr. P.R. Swarup, Director General of CIDC.
Objective of the MoC:
- The Memorandum of Cooperation outlines key elements for both parties, prioritising customer interest through efficiency enhancement, quality assurance systems, environmental protection, and standard operating procedures.
- It also emphasises institutional and capacity building activities, holistic human resource development, research and development, task forces, operationalization resources, and infrastructure support.
CIDC, established by the Government of India in conjunction with Industry, stands as the apex representative organisation actively engaging various constituents of the Indian Construction Industry. CMRL, the State agency for implementing metro projects in Tamil Nadu, contributes significantly to the development of urban transportation infrastructure.
The MOC highlights the collaboration, cooperation, and complementation, aiming to streamline business processes, propagate best practices, and enhance safety, quality, and productivity. This collaboration signifies a pivotal step toward fostering growth and development in the construction and metro rail sectors.
The MoC outlines a roadmap for joint efforts, setting the stage for a transformative impact on the construction and Metro Rail sectors, aligning with the broader goal of contributing to the robust development of urban infrastructure in the region.
