Eastern Railway has successfully completed Girder launching work for the construction of Foot Over Bridge at Kalyani Station

As a part of continuous endeavour for infrastructure development, Eastern Railway has successfully completed Girder launching work for the construction of Foot Over Bridge at Kalyani Station.

As a part of continuous endeavour of Eastern Railway for infrastructure development vis-a-vis creation of passenger amenities, the Construction Department under Deputy Chief Engineer/Sealdah have successfully launched four (4) girders of 31.6 metre length for construction of a Foot over Bridge at Kalyani station. The work has been completed well within the stipulated time schedule of the traffic block.

Moreover, various other asset renewal and maintenance work of different departments have also been completed in the shadow of this traffic block for this Foot Over Bridge girder launching work at Kalyani. These additional works have been completed within the shadow of this traffic block to minimise the requirements of block period for this work for the convenience of passengers.

The additional works which were completed are as follows:

  • Fraction work including replacement of gantry, replacement of 18 nos of isolators, worn out contact wire replacement of 810 metres.
  • Cable replacement work and point machine replacement work at two crossing points of Naihati.
  • Battery replacement of axle counters of Halisahar, point packing and maintenance work at Kanchrapara in association with level crossings gate maintenance work.
  • Welding of 14 nos of rail o­n the main line at Kalyani and tamping of 4 points and crossing at Kanchrapara. 

Shri Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer/Eastern Railway said that all these works have been completed at the ever-busy Sealdah Main Line Suburban section for smooth movement of train traffic for the benefit of the innumerable passengers.
