More Details:
The Railway Boards have recently approved substantial developments in the rail connectivity sector, particularly focusing on the Rampurhat-Mandar Hill via Dumka route. Notably, the Rampurhat-Murarai (29.48 km) 3rd line project is currently in progress, with a targeted completion date within 2023-24.
Recent Completion in Project:
- The recent completion of the Rampurhat-Chatra (22.64 Km) double line electrified section with MACL (Multiple Aspect Colour Light) signalling has significantly enhanced the region’s connectivity.
- This extension has become a crucial gateway for Northeast-bound trains and has facilitated the smooth operation of both passenger and goods transportation.
To further bolster the region’s rail capacity, a comprehensive Preliminary Engineering–cum-Traffic survey was conducted for the augmentation of line capacity between Rampurhat-Murarai, considering an assumed 3% annual growth rate.
In line with this commitment to infrastructure development, the proposal for the construction of the 3rd line between Rampurhat and Chatra was sanctioned in the fiscal year 2014-2015 at a total cost of Rs. 218.03 Crs. This undertaking, involving the districts of Birbhum, and stations including Rampurhat, Swadinpur, Nalhati, Chatra, and Murarai, is set to redefine rail connectivity in the region.
Eastern Railway’s unwavering dedication to enhancing rail infrastructure remains at the forefront of these initiatives, underscoring its commitment to facilitating seamless travel and transportation for the community.
