Eastern Railway’s GM Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi holds meeting with railway standing committee on the development of railway infrastructure and passenger amenities

Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway held a meeting with Hon’ble Members of Parliament Smt. Satabdi Roy and Shri Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury at Eastern Railway Headquarter, Fairlie Place.

  • The Hon’ble Members of Parliament offered their valuable suggestions for development of Railway infrastructure and passenger amenities to fulfil the aspirations of the passengers in their respective constituencies in general and West Bengal in broader perspective.
  • While appreciating the developmental works undertaken by Eastern Railway, the Hon’ble Members of Parliament advised the Railway authority o­n various issues associated with train services, stoppages, passenger facilities, cleanliness, expeditious completion of Railway projects etc. for the benefit of the passengers.

  • Smt. Satabdi Roy proposed a stoppage of 13417/18 (Digha-Malda Town Express) at Siuri station which was already sent to the Railway Board for approval.
  • Shri Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury proposed a new train between Kolkata and Balurghat with stoppage at Malda Town during night time, which was also sent to the Railway Board for necessary approval.
  • Discussions were also held o­n construction of new lines, Road Under Bridges, Road Over Bridges, increase in frequency of trains, extension of service, up gradation of stations etc. Hon’ble MPs assured their co-operation for the smooth functioning of the railway.
  • Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway welcomed the Hon’ble Members of Parliament and thanked them for their valuable suggestions. He apprised the Hon’ble MPs about the performance and initiatives taken by Eastern Railway in respect to augmentation of passenger amenities.
  • Shri Dwivedi, also stated that the suggestions offered by the Hon’ble MPs for development of passenger amenities and railway infrastructure will be reviewed with paramount importance and will be sent to the Railway Board for approval.
