Indian Railways delivers more than 9440 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen to various states

Overcoming all hurdles and finding new solutions, Indian Railways is continuing its journey of bringing relief by delivering Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to various states across the country. As on 16.05.2021, Indian Railways has delivered more than 9440 MT of LMO in nearly 590 tankers to various states across the country.

  • It may be noted that nearly 150 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey so far and brought relief to various States.
  • As on 16.05.2021, 12 loaded Oxygen Expresses on run with more than 970 MT of LMO in 55 tankers.
  • Southern states of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu got a big boost in Oxygen supply with several Oxygen Expresses delivering their loads on 15.05.2021 night and 16.05.2021.
  • Incidentally NCR region crossed the delivery of more than 5000 MT of Oxygen for further distribution.
  • Oxygen Expresses have been delivering nearly 800 MT of LMO to the Nation each day for the last few days.

Status of delivery of oxygen to states:

  • Kerala received its first Oxygen Express at Ernakulam with 118 MT of load.
  • As on 16.05.2021, so far 521 MT of Oxygen has been offloaded in Maharashtra, nearly 2525 MT in UP, 430 MT in MP, 1228 MT in Haryana, 389 MT in Telangana, 40 MT in Rajasthan, 361 MT in Karnataka, 200 MT in Uttarakhand, 118 MT in Kerala, 151 MT in Tamil Nadu, 116 MT in Andhra Pradesh and more than 3320 MT in Delhi.

Additional Details:

  • Running of new Oxygen is a very dynamic exercise and figures keep getting updated all the time.
  • Railways has mapped different routes with Oxygen supply locations and keeps itself ready with any emerging need of the States.
  • States provide tankers to the Indian Railways for bringing LMO.

Wifi Facility:

Meanwhile, Indian Railways is continuing to extend the Wi-Fi facility at far flanged stations to connect the passengers and the general public with digital systems.

  • With the commissioning of Wi-Fi at Hazaribagh Town falling under Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand state in Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway as on 15.05.2021, Indian Railways commissioned Wi-Fi at 6,000 Railway stations.
  • Indian Railways started its Journey by providing Wi-Fi facility at 1st Railway station Mumbai in January 2016.
  • Thereafter, provided 5000th Railway station, at Midnapore in West Bengal and reached 6000th Railway station i.e Hazaribagh on 15.05.2021.
  • Also, on the same day Jarapada station in Angul District of state of Odisha was also provided with Wi-Fi.
  • The Wi-Fi facility at Railway Stations meets the objectives of the aspiring Digital India Program of Government of India.
  • This will bridge the digital divide between the rural and urban citizens thereby increasing the digital footprint in the rural villages and also enhance the user experience.
  • Wi-Fi facility is being provided by Indian railways at 6000 stations now.
  • Provision of Wi-Fi facilities at Railway stations on a self sustainable basis with no cost to the Railways.
  • This facility was provided with the help of RailTel, a PSU under the Ministry of Railways.
  • This task was carried out in partnership with Google, DOT (under USOF), PGCIL and Tata Trust.
