The year 2022 was very fruitful for Noida Metro Rail Corporation. As NMRC has achieved a milestone of ridership and NMRC has taken various efforts to improve non-fare box revenue. Following is a brief overview of the major events and accomplishments of NMRC in the year 2022.

26th January: NMRC celebrated the country’s 73rd Republic Day with great fanfare at its headquarters. It was a matter of double joy for the entire NMRC team as the organization also completed three successful years of commercial operations of the Aqua Line.
09th February: The second batch of the training program was conducted on 09th February, wherein around 105 students from different recognized, private and government colleges and universities joined.
05th April: NMRC crossed the 30,000 mark post Covid and recorded the highest ridership by carrying 30,620 passengers on 04.04.2022 (Monday).
18th April: Due to the increasing trend of passenger ridership and in order to facilitate the commuters, NMRC has planned a reduction in train headway and extended facilities for the ease of travel w.e.f. 18.04.2022. The trains started running at an interval of 7.5 minutes during the Peak Hours (8 AM to 11 AM and 5 PM to 8 PM) and 10 minutes during the Non-Peak Hours from Monday to Friday. Metro train services on Saturdays and Sundays are available at an interval of 15 minutes throughout the day.
18th April: NMRC has come up with a policy of leasing out the auditorium located near Depot Station in Greater Noida. Any individual or institute who might be interested in availing of the service for programs such as training, motivational lectures, academic classes, and annual functions is subject to and approved by NMRC.
25th May: NMRC has a policy for birthday parties, Pre-Wedding Celebrations, and other similar celebrations on wheels. The first Birthday Celebration on the wheels of Noida Metro was celebrated on 25th May 2022. Mrs. Supriya Roy, a resident of Sector-121, Noida, celebrated her son’s 12th birthday on the wheels of Noida Metro at Sector-51 Metro Station with great pomp and show. This is the start of the celebration on the wheels of the Noida Metro. The celebration took place on the standing train at Sector-51 Metro Station. The NMRC team felicitated the kid Shayam with a bouquet for being the first customer for a birthday celebration on the aqualine.
07th June: The third Internship Session (Summer Session June-July 2022) was held from 7th June 2022 wherein around 225 students of varied disciplines enrolled and successfully provided the training.
08th August: NMRC crossed the ridership mark of 40K which was the highest till 08th August 2022 since the date of commercial operation. The second highest till 08th August 2022 was 39,451 on 19.09.2019.
10th August: A workshop about Yoga & Naturopathy based health Camp-cum workshop with the theme based “Holistic Health & Refreshing Mind Space with Robust Immunity” was organized for the benefit of NMRC employees, jointly by Peoples Foundation, a registered Non-Profit Social Organisation and reputed National Institute of Naturopathy(NIN), Ministry of Ayush, GoI.
15th August: NMRC Celebrated Independence Day as Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav at NMRC Headquarters Ganga Shopping Complex, Sector-29, Noida. Celebrating Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. Students of Jagran Public School showcased their skills by singing songs and dance performances on patriotic songs.
31st August: Network Planning Group in its meeting held on 31.08.2022 considered and approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) from Sector-51 to Knowledge Park-V.
31st August: NMRC, in association with Radio City, has started an initiative to provide a daily dose of entertainment for in-transit commuters. This partnership is set to enhance a rich commuting experience with a convenient and affordable transport mode provided by NMRC.
26th September: NMRC attained a new record of achieving the fastest growth in ridership. NMRC crossed the benchmark of 48,000 passengers on 26.09.2022 and had a ridership of 48,396 passengers.
30th September: NMRC Board approved the DPR of Aqualine from Depot Station to MMTH Boraki site for processing the same after receipt of In Principle Approval from GNIDA Authority.
17th October: It was a moment of pride for NMRC as it reached the 50k landmark of ridership on 17.10.2022(Monday). NMRC carried 50,239 passengers which was the highest so far.
17th November: The Public Investment Board (PIB) recommended the implementation of the Metro Rail Corridor from Sector 51 (Noida) to Knowledge Park-V (Greater Noida) of Noida Metro Rail Corporation. The Project covers a length of 14.958 KM having 09 (nine) stations for Rs. 2197.49 crores. The proposed extension of the existing Aqua Line corridor of NMRC will cater to the needs of Noida/Greater Noida residents, especially of Greater Noida (West). This will provide a fast, reliable, and environmentally friendly public transportation system in the area, resulting in saving travel time for passengers.
30th November: NMRC once again broke it’s all-time highest ridership of 52,696 passengers. This record could be achieved because of various initiatives taken by NMRC, like providing commuter-friendly facilities, trains & mobile apps, an increase in the frequency of trains, etc.
12th December: To provide a parking facility for its metro commuters in the Greater Noida Section, the parking lot of the Delta-I metro started on 12.12.2022 (Monday). It was the first parking lot going to be operational in the Greater Noida Section.
28th December: Greater Noida Authority in its Board held on 28.12.2022 has given in principle approval of Detailed Project Report (DPR) from Depot Station to MMTH Boraki Site. Formal Communication is awaited from GNIDA. Now, the DPR shall be forwarded to GoUP for further approvals.
Following major activities have been done for increasing the Non –fare box revenue:
- Advertisement rights on metro piers in Greater Noida region have been allotted by open tender process.
- Co- branding rights of NSEZ, Delta-1 & Sec-51 Metro stations allotted this year.
- Parking Contract of Sec-51 Metro stations allotted this year.
- Vendor has been empanelled to promote various Non-fare box policies of NMRC.
- Commercial space at Sector-83 lower (Ground floor), Sec-101, Sec-142 are under allotment.
- Commercial utilization of Mock-up Metro coaches is under allotment.
- Kiosks at Sector – 51, Pari Chowk & KP – II Metro Station have been allotted.
- During the calendar year 2022, five film shoots have been carried out on NMRC stations generating approximately revenue of approx. Rs. 15.00 lacs.
- Nine birthday celebrations were carried out on the wheels of Noida Metro generating approximately revenue of approx. Rs. 1.11 lacs.
- Kiosks have been allotted Sector-51, Knowledge Park-V and Pari Chowk generating revenue of Rs. 25.00 lacs per annum.
- Parking has been allotted at Sector-51 and earning a revenue of Rs. 40.00 lacs per annum NMRC earned revenue of Rs. 120.00 lacs from Co-branding rights and Rs. 32.00 lacs from Commercial space.
- The average ridership of NMRC is 30,394.
- The average ridership in December 2022 (upto 28.12.2022) is 41,922. Month wise average ridership are as follows:
