IRCON invites bids for Construction of Rail Viaducts in connection with Rampurdumra-Tal-Division

IRCON International Limited has invited online bids in two Packet System (Open Tender) on prescribed forms from bonafied firms/companies having requisite experience and financial capacity for execution of the work detailed in the table below.

Scope of Work: 

  • The scope of work broadly includes:
    • Construction of Rail viaducts over pile foundation and Composite Steel Girder and deck slabs & allied other civil engineering works on the South end approach of proposed Railway Bridge on river Ganga at Mokama from Hathidah-Rampur Dumra line for single track (Project Chainage 2863.166m to 3683.816 m & 3749.310 to 4504.760m) and Hathidah-Tal line for single track (Ch. 2310.493 m to 3294.143 & 3359.637 m to 4049.887 m).
    • Designing & developing Drawings of Bearings including proof checking by IIT.
    • Other associated civil Works like; Survey & setting out of alignment of Viaduct, Establishment of Bench marks, providing Boundary Pillars for Railways land etc..
  • Payable items are provided in the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and any other enabling / temporary works required to be carried out for the eventful completion of the proposed works, are deemed to have been included in the rates quoted for the payable items in the BOQ. No claims of whatever nature shall be entertained for any item of enabling / temporary works and activities listed below including supply of necessary materials, tools and for the works.
    • Any existing serviceable road if damaged during execution of works it is the obligation of contractor to re-construct and make it serviceable to the satisfaction of Engineer In-charge.
    • It is the obligation of Contractor to take necessary clearances from Local Authority for the movement of Plant & Machinery during any day/time of the contract period. IRCON shall only assist in getting the clearances.
    • Execution of all associated civil works for execution of the project, including temporary diversion road required for internal movement of construction equipment, public movement including the cost of maintaining the same in good & motor-able condition till the project is completed.
    • Load for Bearings shall be provided by Employer, but design of Bearings and Fabrication drawing of Bearings shall be responsibility of contractor. The design load and type of bearing shall be governed as provided in detailed drawings.
    • Safety bands, Ribbons, Hard barricading near existing railway lines, and other gadgets for Construction site & workmen shall be maintained as per scheme approved by the engineer. Safety board’s duly written with desired LOGO & safety slogans shall be displayed for information of workers so that they do not enter restricted premises.
    • Based on the approved design and drawing, the contractor will organize surveys and shall re-establish the locations of bridges, center line etc. Alignment of proposed Centre Line of track also to be marked and maintained by providing reference pillars during execution and till handing over of the site.
    • All facilities & equipment required for proper construction & quality control during execution of entire work such as survey instruments including TOTAL STATION, testing equipment, laboratory facilities etc. shall be arranged by the contractor at his own cost.
    • Wherever required, the contractor has to carry out accurate instrumental survey to establish co-ordinate, layout and proper verification at site. The contractor shall submit free of cost all “As built drawings (in Hard copies and soft copies)” in appropriate format, size & sufficient number of copies, as directed by the Engineer.
    • The contractor shall provide complete design for any/all load test e.g. Plate load test, Pile load test, Bridge load test etc. of required numbers & desired location during construction stage including all temporary works & arrangements etc. for the same, as desired by the Engineer.
    • Preparation and getting approval of Fabrication drawings and erection scheme from Client/ Employer. The rate quoted is inclusive of any necessary drawings and approvals to be taken for fabrication and erection of Structural steel.
    • It is the obligation of Contractor to prepare and get approval of Formwork drawings, if any required in the opinion of the Employer.
    • Arranging inspection of concerned IRCON/Railway officials/ RDSO/ Commissioner of Railway safety as per latest circular/ guideline/ prevailing practices.
    • For execution of work the contractor has to follow Safety, Health & Environment
    • Manual of IRCON and the approved quality assurance programme.
  • It is expected that the contractor being selected based on the previous experience of executing similar work/works, is well acquainted with the extent of enabling/ temporary works required but not specifically indicated in the scope above.
  • All the works required for completion of the work under this contract shall be done as per direction of Engineer-in-charge/Engineer and shall be deemed as inclusive of all items to be executed for its completion as per Specifications, Design and Drawings.
  • The contractor shall work out the requirement of manpower and machineries, coping with the scope of work, to be completed within the targeted period and accordingly ensure deployment of those manpower and machineries. 
  • The site being located in TAL area, which gets inundated during monsoon season, contractor has to plan accordingly and deploy suitable equipment to complete the work in stipulated time.
  • The Contractor(s) is expected to use the latest technology and machinery and achieve a most efficient and best quality finished construction.
  • The scope described here is only indicative in nature and IRCON reserves the right to get the work executed in the best and most economical manner, and may add or may not operate any item(s)of work(s) as the IRCON may consider fit.
  • If in the opinion of the engineer-in-charge, there is any special protection works required for protection of Existing Track, Formation, any other Railway installation and safety of running trains, the same shall be executed by the contractor and shall be payable as per relevant clauses of Contract document. It may be noted that the decision of Engineer-in-charge in this regards shall be final and binding on the contractor.
  • The Contractor will be required to shift or relocate any unaccounted and unforeseen utility (electrical cable, S&T, Sanitary pipe line, water line, sewerage line and any other public utility) encountered along the alignment and required to be shifted or relocated for execution of project. 
  • This shall be done after obtaining prior permission from concerned authority of Railway/State Government in co-ordination with Employer. Expenditure incurred for the same shall be reimbursed or paid as per terms and condition of contract.
