Kolkata Metro introduces Paper-Based QR Code ticketing system at Salt Lake Sector V Station

In an innovative stride towards enhancing commuter convenience, the Kolkata Metro has introduced a cutting-edge Paper-Based QR Code ticketing system at Salt Lake Sector V Station of East-West Metro corridor.

Paper-Based QR Code Ticketing System has been introduced by Metro Railway (Kolkata) at Salt Lake Sector V station of East-West Metro Corridor (Green Line) from 02.01.2024 evening much to the delight of the Metro commuters.

This alternative ticketing system was introduced in Green Line o­n 11.10.2023 at Sealdah Metro station. As a result, passengers so far could travel to any station of this Corridor by purchasing this Paper Based QR Code Ticket from the counter of Sealdah Metro station o­nly.

 

But now this facility has been extended to Salt Lake Sector V station also. Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has developed this system which has already become popular among the Metro commuters.

Future Steps to be Taken:

  • All the AFC-PC gates of different stations of Green Line have already been upgraded to make this new ticketing system successful.
  • Monitoring the positive response of the commuters, this system will be implemented throughout the entire stretch of this Corridor very soon.
  • Metro Authorities are hopeful that if this Paper Based QR Code Ticketing System is successful in East-West Metro then gradually it will also be implemented in Kavi Subhas to Dakshineswar and Joka to Taratala stretches of Blue Line and Purple Line respectively.
  • Commuters warmly welcome this progressive move by the Metro Authorities. O­n the very first day, passenger response has been very good at the IT Hub adjacent Salt Lake Sector V station.
