In an innovative stride towards enhancing commuter convenience, the Kolkata Metro has introduced a cutting-edge Paper-Based QR Code ticketing system at Salt Lake Sector V Station of East-West Metro corridor.
Paper-Based QR Code Ticketing System has been introduced by Metro Railway (Kolkata) at Salt Lake Sector V station of East-West Metro Corridor (Green Line) from 02.01.2024 evening much to the delight of the Metro commuters.
This alternative ticketing system was introduced in Green Line on 11.10.2023 at Sealdah Metro station. As a result, passengers so far could travel to any station of this Corridor by purchasing this Paper Based QR Code Ticket from the counter of Sealdah Metro station only.
But now this facility has been extended to Salt Lake Sector V station also. Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has developed this system which has already become popular among the Metro commuters.
Future Steps to be Taken:
- All the AFC-PC gates of different stations of Green Line have already been upgraded to make this new ticketing system successful.
- Monitoring the positive response of the commuters, this system will be implemented throughout the entire stretch of this Corridor very soon.
- Metro Authorities are hopeful that if this Paper Based QR Code Ticketing System is successful in East-West Metro then gradually it will also be implemented in Kavi Subhas to Dakshineswar and Joka to Taratala stretches of Blue Line and Purple Line respectively.
- Commuters warmly welcome this progressive move by the Metro Authorities. On the very first day, passenger response has been very good at the IT Hub adjacent Salt Lake Sector V station.
