Kolkata Metro update: GM Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy conducts inspection of Kavi Subhash station and carshed

In order to ensure the new infrastructure meets stringent safety and performance criteria, Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy conducted a comprehensive inspection of Kavi Subhash metro station and carshed of Kolkata Metro, marking a significant step towards improved connectivity and efficiency.

Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager of Kolkata Metro has conducted an extensive inspection of Kavi Subhash metro station of Blue Line and the Carshed along with senior Metro officials. He conducted a footplate inspection from Park Street to Kavi Subhash stretch of Blue Line in Motorman’s Cab.

During Inspection:

  • Shri Reddy also conducted an extensive inspection of Kavi Subhash station of Blue Line and its subway.
  • Then he inspected Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machines (ASCRM), Platforms, Ticket Counters, AFC-PC gates, staircases, lifts, escalators of this station.
  • He also saw the maintenance of rakes in Kavi Subhash carshed.
  • During this inspection, Shri V. K. Srivastava, Principal Chief Engineer, Shri Asim Majumdar, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Metro Railway and other senior officials of Metro Railway accompanied him.
  • After completing the inspection, he travelled in a Metro up to Jatin das park station and expressed his satisfaction after the inspection.

Carshed at Kavi Subhash Metro Station:

  • In a significant move to provide an interchange point for the hassle free movement of the trains, Kolkata Metro has opened a new metro car shed at Kavi Subhash Metro Station.

  • Kavi Subhash Metro station is the interchanging Metro station of Blue Line and New Garia Railway station of Eastern Railway. Soon it will also be the interchanging point of another line of Kolkata Metro, i.e. Orange Line. Like Blue Line, it is going to be o­ne of the terminal stations of Orange Line.
  • To serve the commuters better and reduce the maintenance pressure o­n Noapara Car Depot, a separate maintenance shed has been constructed beside the existing Kavi Subhash Car shed. This shed consists of Inspection Bay, Lifting Bay and Stabling Lines.
  • This new Car shed also has an Automatic Train Washing Plant which will help to wash the rakes periodically.
  • One Battery powered Rail cum Road Shunter has been provided to facilitate shunting of Metro rakes in the yard.
  • It also has a 500 kWp Solar Power Plant o­n the roof of the shed, which will help to reduce the carbon footprint.
