Maha Rail inaugurates 9 ROBs across Maharashtra, this marks the completion of 24 ROBs alone in the Year 2023

Maha Rail has achieved a remarkable feat in the infra sector of Maharashtra by completing and commissioning 24 ROBs in the year 2023. The recent inauguration ceremony witnessed the opening of 9 completed ROBs across Maharashtra and groundbreaking ceremony (Bhumi Pujan) for 5 Flyovers in Nagpur City.

More Details:

  • Maharashtra’s extensive Road network and five major Railway Zones intersect at various locations across the state, creating more than 2,500 level crossings (LCs). These LCs are not only generating the risk of accidents but also creating inconvenience for passengers by slowing down the traffic.
  • Hence, with a mission to eliminate manned and unmanned LCs across the state, Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (MRIDC) also known as “MahaRail” is constructing ROBs/RUBs to make Maharashtra a “Railway-Fatak Free State”. Elimination of Level Crossings by construction of ROBs/RUBs & LHS is vital for critical Road connectivity and capacity enhancement.
  • Earlier this year, Maha Rail completed and commissioned 15 ROBs across various districts of Maharashtra and now as assured, MahaRail is commissioning more 09 (nine) ROBs across the state within a span of six months.
  • The inauguration of completed 09 (nine) ROBs across Maharashtra and Bhoomipujan of 05 (Five) new Flyovers in the Nagpur City is being held on 17th December, 2023 (Sunday) near KDK College Chowk, Venkatesh Nagar, Gora Kumbhar Square, Nandanvan, Nagpur.
  • The Inauguration and the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of these ROBs and flyovers will be held at the August hands of Shri Nitin Gadkari (Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways), Shri Eknath Shinde (Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra), Shri Devendra Fadnavis (Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra) and Shri Ajit Pawar (Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra).

The momentous occasion was graced by the presence of Shri Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, Managing Director of Maha Rail. His remarks stated, “This is a proud moment for us today, as we are inaugurating 09 (Nine) more completed ROBs across the state and performing Bhoomipujan of new 05 flyovers in Nagpur City. MahaRail has contributed a big share in the infra sector of Maharashtra by commissioning 24 ROBs in the year 2023. In addition to this, MRIDC is determined to cross its own milestone by commissioning even more ROBs in the coming year. I would like to specially thank Shri Krushna Khopde, Hon’ble MLA, for dedicatedly following up with the authorities for fast-track approval of 5 flyovers to be constructed in Nagpur by MRIDC.”

Remarkable Achievement:

It is to be specifically noted that MRIDC has received approval from Government of Maharashtra for constructing 5 flyovers in Nagpur city on 19th October, 2023 and within a span of just 2 months the Corporation has completed the survey, design and drawing works and is well equipped with site mobilisation for starting of physical activities. This is one of the biggest achievements of Maha Rail.

MahaRail is constructing ROBs / RUBs & LHS, Cable Stayed Bridges etc., across the state. These projects are funded by various authorities such as Ministry of Railway, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Public Works Department (PWD), Urban Development Department of Maharashtra (UDD), Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).

Objective:

MRIDC has been entrusted with the challenging task of reconstructing 100 years old British era bridges which have become dilapidated over the years such as the Dadar Tilak ROB, Reay Road ROB, Byculla ROB and Ghatkopar ROB. MRIDC has planned to reconstruct these bridges as State of-the-art Cable-Stayed Bridges without causing any hindrances to the ongoing traffic in a bustling city like Mumbai.

Additionally, MMRDA and KDMC have entrusted construction of Prabhadevi ROB, Sewree ROB and Titwala ROB. These bridges will reduce the traffic congestion in the area and will provide ease and convenience to the commuters. MahaRail is pleased and grateful for the faith entrusted by various Corporations by granting projects.
