Meerut takes strides towards Transit-Oriented Development with NCRTC workshop

In a significant stride towards enhancing Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Zones, the Meerut Development Authority (MDA) and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) joined forces to conduct a pivotal workshop on urban development, focusing on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor.

The Meerut Development Authority (MDA) and National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) conducted a workshop focused on envisioning the development potential of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Zones along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor in Meerut. The workshop brought together stakeholders and experts to shape the future of urban development in the region.

During The Workshop:

  • The workshop was chaired by Mr. Abhishek Pandey, IAS, Vice Chairman of MDA; moderated by Mr. Mukut Sharma, Chief TOD Expert, NCRTC; and attended by Ms. Selva Kumari, Commissioner of Meerut Division and other senior district officials.

  • The event featured presentations on TOD Zones in Meerut and the Uttar Pradesh TOD Policy. Additionally, elected representatives, Dr. Laxmikant Vajpayee, MP; Mr. Rajendra Agarwal, MP; Mr. Ghulam Mohammad, MLA; Mr. Gaurav Chaudhary, Chairman-District Panchayat, and other officials from urban local bodies were present on the occasion.
  • Specific panels were curated for discussions, including the Real Estate Panel, Industrial Panel, and Trade and Commerce Panel, comprising members from various associations and organisations such as Architects’ Association, Laghu Bharti, Indian Industrial Association, and Chamber of Commerce.

Conclusion:

The workshop underscored a collective commitment to harnessing the potential of Transit Oriented Development Zones along the RRTS Corridor in Meerut.
