MMRDA accelerates Mumbai Metro Line-5 project with tender invitation for rolling stock and signalling

In a significant move towards enhancing Mumbai’s metro infrastructure, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has initiated the next phase of the Mumbai Metro Line-5 Project. Recently, MMRDA has announced tenders for the Rolling Stock and Signalling contract, inclusive of Maintenance for a duration of 17 years.

Brief about Tender Submission:

Name of the Work: Design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of Rolling Stock, Communication Based Signalling & Train Control, Telecommunication, Platform Screen Doors and Depot Machinery & Plant of Line-5 (Phase-1 – Kapurbawadi – Kasheli – Dhamankar Naka & Phase-2 -Dhamankar Naka – Bhiwandi- Kalyan Apmc) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project of MMRDA including 15 Years of Comprehensive Maintenance after 2 Years of Defect Liability Maintenance Period.

Scope of Works:

  • Design, procurement, manufacture, factory testing, supply, delivery, storage, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of rolling stock and signalling systems.
  • Maintenance, including supply of spares, unit exchange spares, mandatory spares, special tools, testing equipment, and jigs and fixtures.
  • Rolling stock to be modern, stainless steel, lightweight, with 3-phase AC drive, regenerative braking, and suitable for CBTC-based ATP, ATO, etc.
  • Signalling & Train Control (S&TC) to be based on proven technology, including Platform Screen Doors and Telecommunication System.
  • Depot Machinery & Plant (M&P) to be state-of-the-art and proven machinery in accordance with project requirements.
  • General Specification covers all tender requirements, including design & drawings, project planning, site management, safety, health, environment, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and training.

Eligibility Criteria:

The average annual turnover of the last Five financial years  shall not be less than INR 22,000 Millions.

General Experience:

Experience under the Construction projects in the role of Individual contractor/ lead member of JV/ as JV Member for at least last 7 years ending last day of the month previous to the month of tender submission.

  • At least One Similar work satisfactorily and substantially completed of minimum value INR 14,770 Millions or more
  • At least Two Similar works satisfactorily and substantially completed of minimum value INR 9,233 Millions each or more
  • At least Three Similar works satisfactorily and substantially completed of minimum value INR 7,390 Millions each or more.
