Mumbai Metro Line-9 Update: MMRDA completes metro erection work along with EVH Line at Silver Park, Bhayandar

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) completed crucial erection activity in metro line-9 by opting a major power shutdown at Silver Park, Bhayandar.

More Details:

  • This power shut was conducted between 12 AM to 6 AM at the construction site of the metro from 22nd July to 27th July. This activity took place to ensure the safe movement of cranes and the protection of workers at the site.
  • This shutdown was conducted in supervision of State Load Distribution Centre (SLDC) and Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML). The shutdown was necessary as a 1.5 km section of Mumbai Metro Line-9 passes along the Major transmission power line of 220 kV, requiring a shutdown to complete erection activities safely.

  • During the outage, the metro team successfully erected viaduct elements such as U & I and Station elements such as T, L Girders, Platform Pier Cap (PPC) and Concourse Pier Cap (CPC) in this stretch. Till date almost 90 percent of major elements erection work in metro line-9 stations are completed.
  • Despite challenging weather conditions such as heavy downpour, wind pressure, limited space, MMRDA’s metro team worked diligently to complete the erection activity within the specified timeframe while prioritising safety measures and ensuring uninterrupted household electric supply.

  • After completion of the work, the power supply was promptly re-energized. The work was even more critical during the heavy downpour, but the team successfully managed to accomplish it. The MMRDA’s metro team remains dedicated to working tirelessly day and night for the betterment of future generations.
  • MMRDA constructed 10.58 km Mumbai Metro Line-9 consisting 8 stations connecting Mumbai Suburbs to Mira-Bhayandar city. Metro line-9 is the northern extension of line-7. This line will be unique from the other metro corridors as having two interchange metro stations and Integrated flyovers along metro alignment.

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said “Our metro team has demonstrated commendable dedication by successfully completing the crucial erection activity for this stretch. Despite adverse weather conditions, the entire metro team persevered to ensure the timely completion of the metro line. The major outage was necessary to conduct this activity safely, particularly due to the significance of the power line that supplies electricity to Ghodbunder Varsova and Ghodbunder Gorai. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to SLDC and AEML for their support to MMRDA during this project.”
