Mumbai Metro Lines 2A & 7 witnesses continuous rise in daily ridership amid heavy rainfall

Despite facing heavy rainfall and subsequent disruptions in the city, Mumbaikars have chosen the Mumbai Metro as their preferred mode of transport for hassle-free and safe travel.

  • The continuous rise in daily ridership over the past three days is a testament to the reliability and efficiency of Metro Lines 2A & 7.
  • The incessant rainfall in Mumbai over the last two days has resulted in waterlogging, affecting day-to-day functioning and causing cancellations of trains. Additionally, heavy rainfall has led to severe traffic congestion on the roads. However, commuters have opted for the Mumbai Metro, which has remained unaffected by the adverse weather conditions.
  • The daily ridership of the Mumbai Metro has witnessed a significant increase over the past three days. On July 24, 2023, the ridership reached 212,490, followed by 218,635 on July 25, 2023. The highest recorded ridership was on July 26, 2023, with 222,290 passengers. This surge in ridership has been observed specifically on the Metro 2A and 7 lines.
  • Despite the challenging weather conditions, the Mumbai Metro has successfully operated its 253 services daily, maintaining 100% punctuality without any disruptions. The smooth running of the Metro during heavy rainfall has been made possible by effective monsoon control measures.
  • The Mumbai Metro continues to serve as a reliable and convenient mode of transport for Mumbaikars, even in adverse weather conditions. The increase in daily ridership is a testament to the trust and confidence that the people of Mumbai have placed in the Metro system.
