Mumbai metro two lines inaugurated: Know more

Shri. Uddhav Thackeray, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra State, flagged off first phase of both Dahisar to Dahanukar Wadi Metro-2A and Dahisar to Aarey Metro-7, on 2nd April 2022. 

  • He congratulated MMRDA officials for overcoming many obstacles to create the additional Metro infrastructure. 
  • Shri. Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, appealed to Mumbaikars to maintain the beauty of the new technology and infrastructure.

The Urban Development Minister Shri. Eknath Shinde said that the new metro corridors will provide a great relief to Mumbaikars travelling on the Western Express Highway and Dahisar to Dahanukar Wadi road.

  • Shri. Aditya Thackeray, Environment and Tourism and Suburban Guardian Minister also extended his courtesy to MMRDA officials for completing the 20-km long Metro corridors despite Covid slowing the progress of the city. 
  • He visited the Station Control Room and had video interaction with the staff in the Operation Control Centre. 
  • On the occasion, the Time-Table for the new corridors was also released at the hands of the Chief Minister. 
  • Shri. Uddhav Thackeray also felicitated MMRDA Officials, Contractors and workers for their valued contribution to bringing the first phase of this corridor to Mumbaikars. 
  • The MMRDA will deploy ten metro trains daily in service on this 20-km long route. The comfortable and safe journey can be enjoyed with a minimum fare of Rs.10 and a maximum of Rs.40. 
  • While the trains will run with pilots at the helm initially, the latest technology has been used in form of CBTC system, signalling and driverless operations. 
  • The commuters can use the trains from 8 pm on 2nd April 2022
  • 3rd April 2022 onwards the services will run from 6 am to 10 pm on a daily basis. The stations on the route will make commuters’ life easier with facilities such as drinking water, toilets and more importantly the tactile pathway – designed with international standards – which will help visually impaired commuters find their way without much inconvenience. 
  • The wheel-chaired commuters will also comfortably ride the metro in the first and the last coach.
  • All stations are equipped with CCTV surveillance, security personnel and fire extinguishers.
  • Besides, the latest fare collection technology with paper QR Ticket, Mobile QR Ticket facility will also ease commuters’ journey – 18 stations in all.
