Mumbai Metro Update: Tender invited for Ballastless Track Work for Metro Line-6 project

In continuation to the tender for Contract MT- 10 , the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd. has invited online open e-Tenders, for the work, Contract MT-09 “Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Ballastless Track Work of Standard Gauge from S.S.Nagar (Ch.-822.508) to Seepz Village (Including) (Ch.6693.663) Elevated Sections of Line 6 Corridor of Mumbai Metro Project”.

Scope and Purpose:

  • This specification defines the objectives, guidelines and requirements for Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Standard Gauge Track in Line 6 Corridor, from S.S.Nagar to SEEPZ Village of Mumbai metro rail Project of MMRDA.
  • The works to be executed under the contract include manufacture & supply of materials (except Rails, Turnouts, Scissors X-over, Fastening System for ballastless track and special fastenings for turnouts, which shall be supplied by the Employer), verification, delivery, installation, testing, including integrated testing and commissioning, technical support, training of Employer‘s staff and documentation for a complete system necessary to deliver the requirements of this specification.

Overview of the Project:

S.S Nagar to Vikhroli Corridor:

  • S.S.Nagar-Vikhroli Corridor, a heavy rail mass transit system on standard gauge covering a route length of about 15Km Elevated S.S.Nagar to Vikhroli. There will be depot and workshop facilities at Kanjur marg.
  • S.S.Nagar to VikhroliCorridor has 14 Stations.
  • 25kV AC single – phase Overhead Contact System (OCS) with Cab Signalling and Automatic Train Protection (ATP) / ATO will be provided on S.S.Nagar-Vikhroli Corridor.

Scope of work:

  • This specification establishes the requirements for the manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of track work from S.S.Nagar to SEEPZ Village. The Corridor shall be at Viaduct. The details of curves, turnouts, scissors x- overs, gradients, etc. have been shown in alignment drawings, the exact locations and details of which shall be interfaced by the contractor with designated civil contractors.
  • The work area will also be made available to the contractor at KanjurDepot and at any other location in Line 6 Corridor, between S.S. Nagar to Vikhroli corridor if required by the contractor, and the contractor shall have to interface with designated civil contractors for the same.
  • For welding of Rails, the bidder shall have RDSO approved Flash Butt Welding Plant with standardization of welding parameters for HH 1080 Grade and non HH Rails along with final QAP approved by RDSO as per Addendum & Corrigendum slip No. 2 of Manual for Flush Butt Welding of Rails (Revision Jan. 2012) clause 5.6.2 as per Annexure-X & XI or shall have MOU with the owner of such welding plant owner on the date of opening. The bidder should submit documentary evidence in support of the above requirement at time of submission.
  • The contractor shall be required to interface closely with the various Detailed Design Consultants and the designated civil/structural and system contractors on the S.S.Nagar to SEEPZCorridor appointed by Employer.
  • The scope of work shall include but not limited to the following:
    • Supply of P. Way materials such as glued insulated joints, buffer stops, for the track construction (except Rails, Fastening System for Ballastless track, all types of Ballastless turnouts with fittings for Main Line, which shall be supplied by the Employer). 
    • The contractor will make arrangements for mechanised handling and transportation of all materials (including the materials supplied by the Employer) to the site of work.
    • Railway Board under their letter No. 2010/Proj./Genl/3/3 dated 23.12.2011 have issued ‘Technical standard for Track Structure for Metro Railways/MRTS Systems “a copy of which is enclosed as Annexure ‘A’ of Particulars Specifications provided in volume 3 of Tender documents. The tenders design shall comply with these standards unless instructed by Employer.
    • Design of plinth/slab type track structure on viaduct, tunnel and or with MSS.
    • Setting-out final alignment.
    • Welding of UIC 60 IRS-T-12-2009, 1080 grade rails using the specified welding techniques.
    • Special noise and vibration mitigation measures (Mass Spring System) will be taken at selected locations in underground sections as instructed by Employer.
    • The typical drawings for such measures for a particular system (for reference / guidance) are enclosed in Tender drawings.
