NCRTC showcases the Namo Bharat Trains at 16th Urban Mobility India Conference 2023 in New Delhi

Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, inaugurated the exhibition stand of the Namo Bharat trains of NCRTC as part of the 16th Urban Mobility India Conference cum Expo in New Delhi.

  • The stand highlighted the commuter-centric features of India’s first Namo Bharat trains, recently inaugurated for public service by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The transformative Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) service will bring in several social and economic benefits for the people of NCR. The theme of this year’s for the Conference organised under the aegis of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is ‘Integrated & Resilient Urban Transport’.

  • On the inaugural day of the Conference, Shri Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director, NCRTC, spoke during the session titled ‘Strategies for Meeting Challenges in Multi-modal Integration of Urban Transport Systems’. He emphasised the critical role of multi-modal integration in shaping resilient urban transport systems.

  • He stated, “Following a commuter-first approach, NCRTC has prioritised the needs and comfort of commuters over the ease of construction since the beginning of the RRTS project. The first RRTS corridor is being built in a densely developed urban environment, with numerous stakeholders invested in it, but despite complex challenges, we have remained committed to this principle and our efforts are a testament to our commitment.”

  • The session moderated by Shri Shravan Hardikar, MD, MMRCL, saw participation from esteemed experts and leaders in the field of urban transport including MD of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd., Mr. Loknath Behera IPS (Retd); Senior Urban Transport Expert from the Netherlands, Mr Guido Bruggeman; Director of Transport India at GIZ Mr Daniel E. Moser and more.

Commercial operations of India’s first Namo Bharat Train started:

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the priority section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor at Sahibabad RapidX Station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on 20th Oct, 2023. He also flagged off the Namo Bharat RapidX train connecting Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, marking the launch of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India which opened for commercial operations now.

Namo Bharat train is defining the new journey of New India & its new resolutions, the words of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India reflect the way railway transportation is shaping up in the nation. Adding a dimension to this transformational change, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has taken a ground-breaking initiative that promises to reshape the way we think about railway signalling & passenger safety. This game-changing initiative makes history by introducing several never-before-seen dimensions of railway signalling.
