Patna Metro launches First U-Girder for viaduct of Corridor-1 between RPS More and Patliputra Stations

Patna Metro launched the very first 170-ton precast viaduct U-Girder for the 17.93 km section which comprises 7.42 km elevated and 10.51 km underground section of Corridor-1 of Patna Metro Rail Project.

More Details:

  • The length of this U-Girder is 28 metres. The launching was done on the occasion of National Engineers Day at Pier/pillar number 133-134 at viaduct located between RPS More station & Patliputra Station. The Corridor -I has 14 elevated and underground stations.

  • Danapur Cantonment, Saguna More, RPS More, Patliputra, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar & Jaganpura are elevated stations and Rukanpura, Raja Bazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Station are Underground stations of Corridor -I with and an interchange at Patna Station and Khemni Chak stations.

  • It is to be noted that U-Girders are casted at casting yard and with the help of a crane it is launched between two Pier caps on which the Metro tracks will be laid eventually.

About Patna Metro Project:

  • The Patna Metro, an urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) with two lines and 24 stops, is being built in Patna, the capital city of Bihar, by Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (PMRCL).

  • The 36 km Patna Metro project’s Phase-1 Detailed Project Report (DPR) was created by RITES and was accepted by Bihar State Government on February 9, 2016. On September 25, 2018, the Bihar government approved the formation of the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (PMRCL), which in turn named the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as the General Consultant (GC) to help with its execution.
  • The project will reportedly receive a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency as part of its Official Development Aid (ODA) (JICA).
