In a significant move, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of railway projects worth about Rs 2146 crores which include redevelopment for Sambalpur Railway Station and Flagging off Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express in Sambalpur, Odisha

The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects amounting to approximately Rs 70,000 crores, spanning education, railways, roads, electricity, and petroleum. Stressing the inclusive impact, he emphasised that these projects will benefit various sections of society in Odisha, including the poor, labourers, business owners, and farmers. The comprehensive development initiatives are expected to generate numerous employment opportunities for the youth in the state.
Railway Projects:
- The doubling of the Sambalpur-Talcher rail section and the inauguration of a new rail line from Jhar-Tarbha to Sonpur section will provide the city’s people a more convenient and safe mode of transportation. Subarnapur district which will connect through Puri-Sonpur Express making it easier for devotees to perform darshan of Lord Jagannath.
- He also laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Sambalpur Railway Station, whose architecture is inspired by the Sailashree Palace. He dedicated the Sambalpur-Talcher Doubling Railway Line (168 Kms) and Jhar-Tarbha to Sonepur New Railway line (21.7 Kms), enhancing the rail network capacity in the region. He also flagged off Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express, improving connectivity for the rail passengers in the region.

The event witnessed the presence of notable figures, including the Governor of Odisha, Shri Raghubar Das, Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, among others.
This development underscores Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and fostering growth in the region, signalling a new era of progress and connectivity in Sambalpur, Odisha.
