Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates major rail and infrastructure projects in Telangana

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in Telangana’s development by inaugurating and dedicating multiple transformative projects worth over Rs. 56,000 crores in Adilabad and Rs. 6,800 crores in Sangareddy.

More Details:

In Adilabad:

The Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti Electrification is part of the Mudkhed – Pimpalkhuti Electrification works project. The electrification for this section is sanctioned for a length of 182 Route Kms in the year 2017-18 at an estimated cost of Rs. 206 Crores. The 58 Route km (71 track kms) of Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti section has been electrified at a cost of approximately Rs. 70 crores.

This Railway Line section falls in the backward districts of Adilabad (46.6 Route km) in Northern Telangana Region and some portions of Nanded and Yavatmal districts in Maharashtra (11.5 Route km). It serves as the connecting route towards Nagpur and other parts of Maharashtra.

Significance of the Project:

  • This critical section falls in the railway line connecting Hyderabad/Secunderabad towards Nagpur (via Nizamabad) and beyond. Electrification of this railway line facilitates seamless rail connectivity from Adilabad towards Hyderabad / Secunderabad, Bengaluru in the South as well as Nagpur and beyond in the North.
  • It will also avoid detention of trains on account of traction change thereby improving the average speed of both passenger and freight trains. In addition, it will reduce environmental pollution on account of diesel fuelled trains, thereby saving annual fuel costs.

  • It also helps the farm sector in the Adilabad and surrounding areas by providing safe, fast and economical transportation to their products like cotton, chillies, pulses and maize.

In Sangareddy:

The Prime Minister inaugurated the doubling and electrification of Sanathnagar – Moula Ali rail line along with six new station buildings. The entire 22 Route Kms of the project has been commissioned with Automatic signalling and has been completed as part of the MMTS (Multi Modal Transport Service) Phase – II project.

Six new station buildings, located strategically, have been established at Ferozguda, Suchitra Centre, Bhudevi Nagar, Ammuguda, Neredmet, and Moula Ali Housing Board stations. Doubling and electrification enable the introduction of passenger trains for the first time, promising improved punctuality and reduced congestion on heavily saturated routes.

Additionally, the Prime Minister flagged off the inaugural MMTS Train Service from Ghatkesar to Lingampalli, extending to Moula Ali and Sanathnagar. This service integrates new areas like Cherlapalli and Moula Ali in the east with the western part of the twin city region, offering commuters a safe, fast, and cost-effective mode of transportation.

Railway Development in Telangana:

  • Telangana has been a witness to unprecedented Rail developmental activities in the recent past. Today, rail infrastructure across the State is being created at a rapid pace due to massive increase in the investment in the State.
  • During the last 10 years, the Rail budget allocation for Telangana has been increased by nearly 20 times i.e., from Rs. 258 Crores in 2014-15 to Rs. 5, 071 Crores in 2024 25. This has immensely contributed towards the record infrastructure creation.
  • One of the critical aspects of this growth has been electrification of the rail network in the State. As part of ‘Mission Electrification’, the entire railway network in Telangana (apart from those which are under construction) has been electrified. In the last 10 years, a massive 1,753 Track kms of rail network has been electrified across the State.

Conclusion:

The inauguration of these projects not only underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development but also heralds a new era of connectivity and economic growth for Telangana. With improved rail infrastructure and enhanced transportation services, the state is poised to achieve new heights of progress and development.
