Product Expertise: Advances in Welding Power Sources and Induction heating for Railways

SigmaWeld Pro Series Mig inverters have special programs to help weld all kinds of materials in all positions giving high productivity and clean joints each time. Programs like Pulse, Super Pulse , Root , Jet Arc (High Penetration), DAC (High Productivity, smooth arc) allow welders easy setting and faster production. These machine can be used for multi process (ARC, TIG and MIG/MAG)

India has a need faster connectivity between cities and nothing can do it better and economically than Railways. Both Metro and Inter City travel will improve the lives of everyone around by the extensive use of Railways.

This growing need in the Indian market space will need better quality weld joints, more efficiency of production and consistency in quality.

SigmaWeld Pro Series is based on Modular technology. This can be easily considered as the Lego of welding power sources. Each Module is like a block; you can connect many together to get the desired capacity. Each module is of 200 Amps so 2 would give us 400 Amps, 3 would give us 600 Amps and 5 could give us 1000 Amps, 10 could give us 2000 AMPS. If one module has a problem, the welding equipment would still work with lesser capacity. Thus allowing maximum uptime. Each module is cooled independently ensuring high duty cycle and maximum uptime of the power source.

These high end power sources operate at 150KHz, which means it processes the arc data every 6.7 micro seconds, giving it extreme control over the welding process, producing clean, spatter free joints each time.

Maintenance of SigmaWeld Pro Series becomes very easy, in case of a failure in any module, it can simply be bypassed and the equipment can be used at lower capacity. This ensures maximum up time. Also swapping a module is as simply as using an usb, it’s a simply plug and play approach.

Induction Heating can help eliminate the dependency on Gas Based Heating (Oxy Acetylene) on the shop floor. It offers the flexibility of heating locally be it a small area (1 inch ) or a longer (upto 12 meters) one keeping temperature across the zone same. It is the most efficient way to heat so can heat very quick and is extremely safe for the operator.

Heat straightening is a process with which deformation in welded structures can be eliminated quickly and without impairing the material. Induction straightening uses a coil to generate localized heat in pre-defined heating zones. As these zones cool, they contract, “pulling” the metal into a flatter condition. Sigma Weld Induction Heating Solutions give Fast, easy, precise and repeatable heating improving both quality and productivity

In the railways many applications such as heat straightening of Side Walls or Under Carriages post welding, Shrink fitting, Removing or Wheels from Axle shafts, Annealing, normalizing many applications can be done through induction heating making the process operator independent, quick and ensures repeated quality each time.
