About DWDM:

  • RailTel is implementing optical fiber based broadband telecom long haul network with new generation optical networking systems.
  • The desired network should accommodate the growing demand for bandwidth, while maintaining compatibility and enhanced flexibility to transport and route all traffic types including Dense Wave Division Multiplexer (DWDM), Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Internet Protocol (IP) data.
  • At present RailTel has deployed 40/80 Channel (100/50GHz) DWDM network with 100G/200G line system between Mumbai to Chennai and covering other Important Cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Bhusaval, Pune, Wardha, Nagpur, Wadi etc.
  • The Network is created using ADVA make DWDM FSP3000 series.
  • Vijayawada to Kolkata & Nagpur to Kolkata network routes are created using Ciena make 6500 DWDM.
  • RailTel desires to create 100G/200G network by using mix of Alien wavelength over ADVA’s & Ciena make coherent DWDM segment & new DWDM system using new fiber pairs on remaining segment.
  • Details of routes are as follows: –
    • Delhi to Kolkata
    • Delhi to Mumbai
    • Bangalore to Mumbai & Bangalore to Chennai
    • Chennai to Mumbai

Scope of work for DWDM:

  • The scope of work would be System Design, Supply of Equipment at various sites/locations of RailTel.
  • The scope also includes Installation, Testing, Commissioning & Acceptance of the DWDM Network including integration with the existing system.
  • Project Management, Supply of all related goods and providing all related services including custom clearance if required, transportation, installation, testing, commissioning & AT of the telecom system and training of RailTel personnel.

About Metro DWDM (MDWDM):

  • RailTel is implementing optical fiber based broadband telecom Metro DWDM access network with new generation optical networking systems.
  • RailTel desires to create 10 &100G coexist network by using mix 10G wavelength and 100G coherent wave length MDWDM system by using new fiber pairs.
  • Details of routes are as follows:
    • Pratap Nagar- Nagda- Bhopal- Agra (Kota to Agra & Sawai Madhopur to Jaipur segment is covered in DWDM network)
    • Manmad- Secunderabad
    • Delhi Access (Noida to Ghaziabad)
    • Chandigarh- Shimla
    • Bangalore & Chennai Access
    • Delhi Teritorry Access Network
    • Jaipur Teritorry Access Network
    • Lucknow Teritorry Access Network
    • Chandigrah Teritorry Access Network
  • The required network shall be Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) based system and End of Life (EoL) shall not be less than 8 Years and capacity shall be 800 Gbps in Backbone line side.
  • The system must be programmable and highly intelligent, with very basic, robust and simple architecture.
  • Proposed solution shall work seamlessly with 100G and 10G channels.
  • The technical specification given in this part describes functional as well as performance requirements of the proposed telecom network.
  • The MDWDM system shall meet the requirements of both metro and long-haul networks.
