Railways sanctions Final Location Survey (FLS) for 15 new railway lines and 11 projects for doubling, tripling and quadrupling in Telangana

The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned nearly 15 Final Location Survey (FLS) for new railway lines and 11 projects for Doubling, Tripling and Quadrupling, giving special focus for strengthening rail connectivity in the State of Telangana.

More Details:

  • These lines combinedly stretch for a distance of nearly 2,647 kms and are estimated to cost nearly Rs. 50,848 Crores. Apart from these, another 11 projects FLS have been sanctioned for Doubling, Tripling and Quadrupling for a distance of nearly 2,588 kms and are estimated to cost nearly Rs. 32,695 Crores.

Bodhan – Latur Road New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Bodhan – Latur Road New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 135 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 2,430 Crs.
  • This line serves as the shortest route connecting Latur of Maharashtra with the important towns in Northern Telangana like Bodhan and thereby facilitating direct connectivity via Nizamabad.
  • The New Railway Line will serve as an important route in connecting pilgrim places of  Maharashtra like Parli and Pandhrapur directly with the Northern Telangana region. This new line will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region by connecting new places with the rail network.
  • It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the Maharashtra region towards Telangana and beyond and helps in improvement in multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line also helps in coal transportation from Ramagundam area to Thermal Power plants located in Maharashtra like Parli, Kudgi and Hotgi. This provides fillip to the trade and commerce of Northern Telangana region as the many places are connected with rail network for the first time.

Kothagudem – Kirandul New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Kothagudem – Kirandul New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 180 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 3,240 Crs. This line will help in connecting the remote and tribal areas that are located in both Telangana and Chhattisgarh States.
  • The New Railway Line will be helpful in bringing hitherto unconnected places in the remote areas of Telangana and Chhattisgarh States into the rail network. Accordingly, the new railway line will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region.
  • It will aid in the passenger movement from Telangana state to Orissa via Chhattisgarh and vice versa and it will give a boost to the multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line passes through rich mineral belts and industrialised areas in both Telangana and Chhattisgarh states. This facilitates effective freight transportation from these areas. This new rail line also helps in boosting passenger train operations through this area.

Adilabad to Gadchendur New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Adilabad – Gadchendur New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 71 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 1,278 Crs. This line serves as an alternative route connecting the East & West Corridors and is likely to boost freight transportation.
  • The New Railway Line will help in connecting Adilabad with the main line of Kazipet – Balharshah near Gadchendur and the trains can be operated without touching Balharshah junction and thereby easing the congestion in the Grand Trunk route.
  • Accordingly, the new railway line apart from connecting new place Sirsanna Town for the first time with rail facility will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement and also freight transportation.
  • This line will be very much useful for moving Cement from Gadchendur/ Manikgarh Cement industries to Nanded division and Central Railway. This line also helps in coal transportation from Singareni Collieries to Parli, Hotgi and Kudgi Thermal Power Plants.

Tandur Cement Cluster to Zahirabad New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Tandur Cement Cluster – Zahirabad New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 75 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 1,350 Crs. This line is likely to reduce the distance between Tandur and Zahirabad by 65 Kms. At present, the existing line is via Vikarabad.
  • The New Railway Line will serve as the shortest route for the trains that are bound to Wadi and beyond instead of operating via Vikarabad. This line also serves as an alternate route for the existing line and the freight rakes can be moved in a more flexible manner in both directions i.e., towards Secunderabad and towards Wadi.
  • This new line will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the Maharashtra region towards the Southern direction and help in giving boost to the multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line helps in serving the Cement industries located in the region and there is a lot of potential for Cement and Clinker transportation. This provides fillip to the Cement industry for increasing their production with the help of better transportation avenues.

Bhadrachalam to Malkangiri New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Bhadrachalam (Pandurangapuram) – Malkangiri (Junagarh) New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 186 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 3,592 Crs. This line will connect Bhadrachalam Temple Town with the Main line rail network.
  • The New Railway Line is helpful in connecting Bhadrachalam temple with the main line in Orissa via Chhattisgarh. Accordingly, the new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with a rail facility will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region.
  • It will aid in the passenger movement from Telangana state to Orissa via Chhattisgarh and vice versa and it will boost the multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line also facilitates reducing the distance between deep sea ports (Kakinada) to mines and industries of Orissa & Telangana. This new rail line helps in boosting both passenger and freight transportation.

Dornakal – Miryalguda New Railway Line Final Location Survey Sanctioned:

  • The Dornakal – Mryalaguda New Railway Line project is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 120 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 2,160 Crs. This new line connects important towns such as Nelakondapalli, Kodad & Huzurnagar.
  • Accordingly, the new railway line will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the capital of Telangana state giving boost to the multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • These two towns Dornakal & Miryalguda would get additional rail routes with capital cities viz., Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Chennai and New Delhi. This line also facilitates in transportation of coal from Singareni collieries to upcoming Yadadri power plant as well as it aids in transportation of food grains (Rice) from Suryapet districts parboiled rice Mills to other parts of the country.

Extension of MMTS Phase – II up to Wangapalli FLS Sanctioned:

  • In a slight modification to the already sanctioned MMTS Phase – II extension up to Yadadri , it is proposed to shift the terminal station to Wangapalli instead of Yadadri. This New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry.
  • This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 40 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 980 Crs. This line connects Yadadri temple town by faster, safer, efficient and cheaper mode of transport by introduction of MMTS services.
  • With this new railway line, connectivity to Yadadri temple is provided to pilgrims of not just Telangana but also for all over India. This line also serves ever increasing passenger and goods traffic o­n this busy route.
  • The quadrupling of the entire section helps in operating the train services effectively without any detention. Introduction of suburban services helps in direct connectivity to Yadadri temple town from all directions of the City.

Outer Ring Rail on exterior periphery of Regional Ring Road FLS Sanctioned:

  • This Outer Ring Rail New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 564 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 12,408 Crs.
  • It is proposed to construct Outer Ring Rail o­n the exterior periphery of Regional Ring Road with Rail over Rail at Akanapet, Yadadri, Chityal, Burgula, Vikarabad, Gate Vanampalli, Medak, Siddipet and Gajwel.
  • This line traverses through districts of Vikarabad, Medak, Siddipet, Kamareddy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy. It also connects important towns like Vikarabad, Sanga Reddy, Medak, Akanapet, Siddipet, Gajwel, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ramannapet, Chityala, Narayanapur, Shadnagar, Shabad.
  • It provides an effective multi modal connectivity for the new satellite townships and industrial zones which are likely to develop in the upcoming Regional Ring Road.It enables introduction of additional sub-urban services to Hyderabad.
  • It also enables increasing the long-distance services from Hyderabad to various parts of the country. Due to rapid expansion of Hyderabad city, the suburban area has been extended to 90 Kms resulting in an increase of Passengers trains/MMTS trains. These have a huge impact o­n freight movement.
  • To avoid cascading effects o­n freight trains and to provide hassle free movement over these highly saturated sections, a separate freight corridor Bypass Rail Ring Road around Hyderabad-Secunderabad-Kacheguda region is very much essential for seamless flow of traffic.

Vikarabad – Krishna New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Vikarabad – Krishna New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 122 kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 2,196 Crs. This line will connect several new and unconnected places particularly in Southern Telangana and is likely to provide rail connectivity to major towns like Pargi, Kodangal, Husanabad, Daultabad, Makthal & Narayanpet Dist. headquarters.
  • With this New Railway Line, hitherto unconnected towns will have efficient, cost effective and safer transport facility to the capital city of Hyderabad. This will facilitate hassle free movement to the freight traffic for cement clusters at Tandur.
  • At present trains bound from Secunderabad to Raichur are dealt through the existing route of Vikarabad – Chittapur – Krishna for a stretch of 193 Km.This line will provide a shorter route for moving to Hubli, Kolhapur & Goa from Vikarabad.

Bhupalapalli – Kazipet (Hasanparti) New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Bhupalapalli – Kazipet (Hasanparti) New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 64 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 1,152 Crs.
  • This line connects Tribal Districts Headquarter (Bhupalapalli) with the main trunk route, via Jagadalpeta, Marripalli and also gets rail connectivity to famous pilgrim places Sammakka & Sarakka. 
  • The new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with rail facilities will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the capital of Telangana state to famous pilgrim places apart from giving boost to other multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • This new line provides Rail connectivity to this underdeveloped but mineral rich district. This will help in generating huge employment opportunities to the local public. This new line will also provide rail connectivity to Bhupalapalli coal mines. Major minerals available in the Jayasankar Bhupalapally district are laterite, dolomite, coal, clay, black granite and limestone besides sand.
  • This new line is more useful for movement of Coal from Bhupalapally Coal Cluster to various thermal power stations i.e., Kakatiya Power Station located near Bhupalapalli and Ramagundum, Upcoming Yadadri power plant at Vishnupuram and also to Karnataka, Maharashtra and Southern states.

Karimnagar ¬- Hasanparti New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Karimnagar – Hasanparti New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 62 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 1,116 Crs. This line is likely to connect important towns like Manakondur, Huzurabad with Hyderabad and also facilitates direct connectivity towards Vijayawada, Chennai and Tirupati.
  • This new railway line serves as an alternate route for the main line between Kazipet – Peddapalli. The new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with rail facilities will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the capital of Telangana state for multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line facilitates the granite industry to export their product via Kakinada port, via this shorter route. Direct connectivity to Vijayawada, Chennai and Tirupati enables introduction of long distance trains from this section.

Kacheguda (Umdanagar) – Chityal – Jaggayapet New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Kacheguda (Umdanagar) – Chityal – Jaggayapet New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 228 Kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 4,104 Crs.
  • This line is likely to connect several new and unconnected places particularly in Central Telangana and is likely to provide rail connectivity to major towns like Kodad, Suryapet, Nakrekal, Narketpalli, Chityala, Munugodu.
  • These new places will be connected with the Capital city of Telangana (Hyderabad) and with Capital of India (New Delhi) by providing connectivity also with the existing main line. Accordingly, the new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with a rail facility will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region.
  • The line also traverses through the area heavily industrialised by Cement plants. O­nce the line is completed, it will induce the production activity by cement industries as there will be direct transportation of their products.

Dornakal to Gadwal New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Dornakal – Gadwal New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 296 kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 5,330 Crs.
  • This line will connect several new and unconnected places of Southern Telangana and is likely to provide rail connectivity to major towns like Kusumanchi, Paleru, Mothey, Suryapet, Bhimavaram, Nalgonda, Nampally, Kalvakurthi, NagarKurnool, Wanaparthy, Bhuthpur etc.
  • The New Railway Line is likely to connect the new and unconnected places with the district headquarters of Telangana, Hyderabad and with Capital of India (New Delhi) by providing connectivity also with the existing main line.
  • Accordingly, the new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with a rail facility will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the capital of Telangana state for multiple sectors like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line also traverses through Cement and Granite industrial Zones and provides fillip to the marketing of these products to different parts of the country. This line also serves as a shorter route for transportation of coal from Singareni Collieries to Thermal Power plants in Karnataka & Maharashtra.

Patancheruvu (Nagalapalli) to Adilabad New Railway Line FLS Sanctioned:

  • The Patancheruvu (Nagalapalli) – Adilabad New Railway Line is o­ne of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 317 kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 5,706 crs.
  • This line is likely to connect several new and unconnected places particularly in Northern Telangana and is likely to provide rail connectivity to major towns like Ichoda, Neradigonda, Dhanur, Nirmal, Balkonda, Armoor, Bodhan, Rudrur, Nasrullabad, Banswada, Nizamsagar, Alahadurg, Sangareddy, Patancheruvu.
  • The New Railway Line is also likely to connect these new places with the Capital city of Telangana (Hyderabad) and with the Capital of India (New Delhi) by providing connectivity also with the existing main line.
  • Accordingly, the new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with a rail facility will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the capital of Telangana state for multiple activities like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.
  • The line also traverses through agriculturally developed areas and provides fillip to the marketing of agricultural produce like Rice, Maize, Cotton, Turmeric, Sugar, etc. to the farmers from Medak, Siddipet, Nizamabad and Nirmal among others.

The Ministry of Railways has been giving special focus towards rail development in Telangana. Over the past 9 years, the rail budget allocation to the State has been increased by almost 17 times i.e., from Rs. 258 crores in 204-15 to Rs. 4,418 crs. This has led to creation of new rail infrastructure in the State. Over the past nine years, almost 575 kms of rail has been added to the rail network in the State. The sanctioning of Final Location Survey (FLS) FOR 15 New Railway Lines is likely to give further thrust to rail development in the state.
