Secunderabad Railway Station transformation works to be completed by the end of  2025

The Major Upgradation Works of Secunderabad Railway Station is progressing at Rapid Pace and scheduled to be completed in 2025. The Upgradation and Modernisation of Railway Stations across the nation is a part of the Govt. initiative of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region, Govt. of India visited Secunderabad Railway Station and reviewed station major upgradation plans. He was accompanied by Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway and other senior Railway officials.

During Inspection:

  • Shri G. Kishan Reddy reviewed the o­n-going Upgradation works at Secunderabad Railway Station with SCR officials.
  • The Hon’ble Minister visited the construction site o­n both sides of the Station building and took a first-hand update about the progress of the developmental works.
  • Later, addressing the media at the station, he stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone for major upgradation of Secunderabad station o­n 8th April 2023 and within a short period of time almost 20%-25% of the works have already been completed.

  • The entire project is targeted to be completed by the end of 2025. The station is being redeveloped with a cost of approximately Rs. 700 crore.
  • He said the redeveloped station will have modern architecture and World-class passenger amenities. Secunderabad Railway station will be completely transformed and will be o­n par with airports.

Further, Shri G. Kishan Reddy informed that the redeveloped station will have 26 lifts, 32 escalators and 2 travelators. To facilitate the passengers, multi-modal connectivity is being provided to east & west metro stations as well as bus stations, he stated. He said that the station will have spacious roof plaza, cafeterias, recreational facilities, retail shops mainly promoting vocals for local products etc. He also appreciated the team SCR for their efforts and commitment towards carrying out the works at a fast pace so as to complete the project by targeted date.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy stated that various other Rail developmental projects in Telangana state are also progressing at a fast pace. In this regard, he stated that the Cherlapalli Railway terminal works are progressing at a fast pace and are almost nearing completion. He further stated that, as part of the station redevelopment project, Nampally, Kacheguda, Lingampalli and Begumpet stations are also being upgraded in the twin city region.
