Siemens emerges lowest bidder for the 9000 HP Electric Locomotive project in Dahod, Gujarat, India for Rs. 13,777.20 crore

The Ministry of Railways had invited tender for “Manufacture and supply of 1200 Electric Locomotive of 9,000 HP, Co-Co configuration (the “Locomotive”) spread over a period of 11 (eleven) year at Rolling Stock Workshop, Dahod and Maintenance at nominated Government Depots over Indian Railways on the basis of a long term manufacture and maintenance contract.

Siemens Limited has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the 9000 HP Electric Locomotives project in Dahod, Gujarat, India for Rs. 13,777.20 crore.

More Information:

  • 9000 HP, 6 axle Co-Co Locomotives will utilized all over Indian Railways Route for hauling 4500T load with average speed of 75 kmph by single loco (Grade: 1 in 200).
  • Manufactured at Rolling Stock Workshop, Dahod in Gujarat by upgrading of existing facilities and developing of additional facilities as required.
  • Locomotives to be manufactured at Rolling Stock Workshop, Dahod using Railway Manpower.
  • Nominated Government Depots for Maintenance with holding capacity of 300 each at:
    • Kharagpur (West Bengal)
    • Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh)
    • Raipur (Chhattisgarh)
    • Pune (Maharashtra).
