South Central Railway conducts meeting with freight customers for Business Development Unit (BDU)

The first Business Development Unit (BDU) meeting with freight customers was conducted by South Central Railway o­n 15th June, 2023 and this is the second BDU meeting conducted by Headquarters Commercial Branch during the year 2023-24.

  • Shri K. R. K. Reddy, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway conducted the BDU proceedings with freight customers. Shri S. Ramesh Babu, Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Services), South Central Railway and Shri M. Ramesh Kumar, Dy. Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Services), South Central Railway also participated in the meeting.
  • Freight Customers of Tandur sector viz., Shri Saurabh Purwar, General Manager(Logistics), M/s Kalaburgi Cements Limited; Shri B. M. Mahana, General Manager, M/s Cement Corporation of India Limited; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Manager (Logistics), M/s India Cements Limited; Shri J. Venkateswarlu, Asst. General Manager, M/s Penna Cements Limited; and Shri P. Ranganath, Dy. Manager (Logistics), M/s Chettinad Cements Corporation Private Limited participated in the meeting.
  • A powerpoint presentation was made o­n the performance of each siding of Tandur cluster compared with the last two years.
  • During the meeting, freight customers have also presented a powerpoint presentation and projected their loading prospects during the year 2023-24.
  • Shri K.R. K. Reddy, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway emphasised the freight customers to increase their Rail Co-efficient during the year 2023-24 and also apprised the customers to give their monthly projections of their loading/unloading.
  • Freight customers were also advised to give their short term and long term projections, so that South Central Railway shall plan to improve loading/unloading.Freight Customers were also requested to improve the wagon turnaround so as to increase the loading through Rail.
  • Freight customers have thanked South Central Railway for arranging BDU meetings for having detailed interaction with all cement plants in Tandur sector, duly raising certain issues and assured co-operation to increase the loading through Rail.
  • South Central Railway thanked the freight customers for attending the BDU meeting and assured that the issues raised by the freight customers will be addressed early and action taken will be intimated to the freight customers.
