General Description of the Works:

Bhopal Metro Project:

Bhopal Metro Rail Project sanctioned by Government of India comprises of two corridors. The total length of the project corridors is 30.95 Kms.

  • The above corridors may be modified on account of new stations / relocation of stations / rationalisation of curves & gradients during final layout design. The Contractor shall be advised of such modifications, as appropriate and shall keep sufficient margins to ensure compliance to the specifications.
  • One common depot has been planned near Subhash Nagar Station to cater to
  • the needs of both Purple line and Red line. The depot at Bhopal shall include train
  • stabling, washing / cleaning, inspection, maintenance, repairs and overhaul facilities.
  • The depot will have test track.

Indore Metro Project:

Indore Metro Rail Project sanctioned by Government of India comprises of Ring Line called yellow Line. The total length of the project corridor is 31.46 Kms.

  • The above corridors may be modified on account of new stations/ relocation of stations/rationalisation of curves & gradients during final layout design.   • The depot at Indore for Yellow Line, shall include train stabling, washing / cleaning, inspection, maintenance, repairs and over haul facilities. The depot will have test track.
  • Rolling Stock supply targets for these shall be governed as per the specified key dates schedule.
  • The delivery priority for the trains in Bhopal and Indore may also vary slightly. Contractor shall have to make suitable changes in the delivery plan at the nominated depot at no extra cost to Employer.
  • The Scope of Works under this Contract covers design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of passenger Rolling Stock and the training of operation and maintenance personnel for both Bhopal & Indore Metro Rail Projects of MPMRCL.
  • The Scope also covers comprehensive maintenance of trainset for 15 years for both Bhopal & Indore Metro and maintaining agreed quantity of spares (maintenance, emergency, overhauling, UES etc.), consumables, tools, special tools, testing and diagnostics equipment, jigs, fixtures, gauges and test benches, etc. for maintenance, repair and overhaul of cars. 
  • The Contractor shall ensure that major overhaul (except mid-life refurbishment related activities) of all the systems of Rolling Stock have been performed at least once during the contract period. The details of minor and major overhaul of all the system and sub system of the Rolling stock shall be submitted in technical bid.
  • The cars required for the corridors shall be of modern design, lightweight made of stainless steel / aluminium, with 3 phase AC drive having V.V.V.F control, regenerative braking and suitable for CBTC based ATP, ATO etc. provided by other Designated Contractors and shall be suitable for
  • Unattended Train Operation conforming to Grade of Automation – ‘GOA4’ as specified in IEC 62290 latest version. The cars shall operate on 750V dc, third rail system for elevated, at-grade and underground sections. The detailed performance requirements, and design criterion of the cars and equipment are covered in ERTS.

  • The Employer is in the process of developing the Operation & Maintenance Plan for the Project concurrently with the progress of the Project implementation. The O&M Plan shall be progressively evolved and refined with inputs from various Project Contractors including Rolling stock contractor as well as other agencies.
  • The Project Owner (MPMRCL), by itself and/or through its representatives / consultants will exercise appropriate financial and technical oversight over the Bhopal & Indore Metro Rail Projects. 
  • The Contractor shall be required to send one copy of all its submissions to the Engineer, to the Project Owner also. The Project Owner may appoint independent quality and safety auditors for monitoring and ensuring quality and safety of the Works being executed. 
  • The Project Owner may require witnessing of any or all of the Tests, procedures, working methodology by its representatives with a view to assessing the suitability and the Contractor shall be responsible for extending required facilities / assistance for this purpose
  • The Contractor shall also carry out effective interface coordination with other Designated Contractors and other appointed Contractors by the Employer from time to time, during the Contract duration.
  • The Contractor shall carry out Integrated Testing and Commissioning of cars on the section in co-ordination with other Designated Contractors, under supervision of Engineer. 
  • They shall also carry out all statutory tests and trials on cars necessary for obtaining sanction of Competent/Statutory Authorities for opening the system for public carriage of passengers and provide assistance and information as required by the appropriate statutory authorities in India.
