Eastern Railway Update: Non-interlocking work going on in full swing for commissioning of 3rd line between Rampurhat & Chatra

In order to increase mobility in the connecting Railway link from South Bengal to North Bengal/North Eastern States as well as to the adjacent states of Bihar & Jharkhand via Sahibganj loop, the non interlocking work in connection with the commissioning of 3rd line between Rampurhat & Chatra started as per earlier notified schedule.

More Details:

  • As the pre non-interlocking work started o­n 18.8.2023, o­n that day two crossing points at Swadinpur were dismantled. In addition to this, traction modification work has been carried out there.
  • Moreover, in the shadow of traffic block for this development work, various other works related to asset maintenance and capacity augmentation like tamping of line, laying & welding of joints, ultrasound testing, dressing & ballasting of track are being executed at different areas in the Rampurhat – Chatra section to maximise the utilisation of block period and reducing the number of days of traffic block for such work, taking into consideration about passengers convenience.
  • Approximately a total of 49 trains have been cancelled and 25 trains were diverted for this work so that rest other trains can be run easily through the section during the block period.
  • Well-coordinated activity of various departments of Eastern Railway is continuing at the site to minimise the effect of such major development work.
  • A total of 150 Assistant Station Masters & 259 other staff of the Operating Department as well as a similar volume of manpower of other departments have been deployed for this work under supervision of the senior officers of Eastern Railway.
  • DRM/Howrah is also continuously maintaining contact with the supervisors, staff & officers working at the field so that the work can be performed as per proper schedule and in time.
