Hyderabad Metro & Paytm launches QR code based ticketing facility

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director Mr. NVS Reddy on Thursday launched Paytm’s QR code based ticketing facility for travel through Hyderabad metro rail. This is an innovative solution to facilitate efficient and seamless transit needs of commuters which also helps them to avoid queues at ticket counters.

  • With the launch of QR code-based ticketing system, the HMRL has taken a step forward towards creating urban mobility solutions that are future-ready.
  • Mr. Reddy said,”We believe that by offering these tech-powered solutions we will serve the transit needs of commuters more efficiently and seamlessly.”
  • Commuters can now simply purchase a QR ticket on their Paytm app, which can be displayed at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to proceed for the journey.

  • “The launch of mobile QR ticketing on Hyderabad Metro in partnership with Paytm help people of Hyderabad to book digital ticket seamlessly and create a mark in the industry,” L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited Managing Director Mr. K.V.B. Reddy said.
  • The tickets can also be pre-booked and come with a validity of one day.
  • The company further planned to extend this service to metro-feeder buses to ensure last-minute connectivity in the city
  • Abhay Sharma, Senior Vice President – Paytm said, “The QR-code based ticket booking feature launched in partnership with Hyderabad Metro Rail on our app would help in reducing congestion on the ticket counters at the metro stations.”

  • Paytm provides multiple products & services like Metro Card recharges, mobile-based ticketing and trip pass for Bengaluru Metro, Hyderabad Metro, Delhi Metro, and Mumbai Metro.
  • Paytm is also the first company to launch QR-based tickets for Mumbai Metro and is expanding this service to other major cities as well.
