MMRDA commences the construction of Mumbai Metro Line-12: Enhancing connectivity across the region

In a significant step to enhance metro connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, has inaugurated the construction work of Mumbai Metro Line-12 connecting Kalyan to Taloja with a total length of 22.173 km.

The work of Metro Route – 12, Kalyan to Taloja was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Eknath Shinde and in the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar at Premium Ground, Kalyan-Shil Road.

This is one of the many metro routes being strategically developed in MMR, and its total length is about 22.173 km and the route will include a total of 19 stations.The estimated cost of this project is ₹5,865 crores. Piling work has started and MMRDA aims to complete this project by the end of 2027.

This project will increase the standard of life of the citizens of Kalyan, Thane, Bhiwandi, as well as Navi Mumbai and about 2. It is estimated that 6 lakh citizens will travel. Mumbai Metro Regional Development Authority to provide connectivity in MMR through metro with 337 km long, world’s largest metro webs and promising commitment for a developed future.

Metro Line 12 will strategically complement the exceptional transportation services of the Mumbai Metro:

  • It extends Metro Line 5 from Kalyan, thereby playing a crucial role in enhancing  interconnectivity.
  • The structure comprises 19 elevated stations with a total length of about 22.173 km.
  • Piling work for Metro Line 12 has already commenced.
  • It significantly reduces travel time between Kalyan and Taloja by 45 minutes each way.
  • Metro Line 12 will be integrated with the Navi Mumbai Metro Line at the Navi Mumbai Metro station, enhancing connectivity between the Kalyan-Dombivli region and Navi Mumbai.
  • It will create numerous job opportunities and employment possibilities.
  • The project will catalyse a new wave of development, making monumental contributions to business and economic growth.
  • It will lead to a substantial reduction in traffic congestion, road accidents, fuel consumption, pollution, etc.
  • Metro Line 12 brings MMRDA a few steps closer to fulfilling its dream for the sustainable future of the MMR.
