Team MMRDA achieved a significant milestone at MTHL as it successfully & carefully launched the longest Orthotropic steel deck on MTHL PKG-1.
More details:
- This OSD 4S is 180m long and weighs 2400 MT. The First one was Launched on 1st April 2022 and the 2nd one was yesterday evening.
- The Orthotropic Steel Deck is a steel Deck Superstructure (strengthened or stiffened both transversely and longitudinally which will carry the vehicular load more efficiently among three planes and improve the load-carrying capacity of the bridge as compared to the Concrete Superstructure for a similar span.
- OSD Steel Deck Superstructure has lesser self-weight than concrete or composite.
Speaking about the achievement of Shri S.V.R Srinivas IAS, Hon. Metropolitan Commissioner MMRDA said“ It is a significant milestone that team MMRDA has reached in MTHL. Teams are moving in sync with our Catch-up plan towards commissioning the project by next year’s end.
- Among the total 38 OSDs to be erected within the Phase-1 of the project this OSD was the 14th one.
About MMRDA:
