In a significant development for Indian Railways, Smt. Jaya Varma Sinha, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, undertook a comprehensive inspection of the USBRL Project in Jammu & Kashmir, emphasising the criticality of connecting the Kashmir Valley to the national railway network.

Smt. Jaya Varma Sinha, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board has carried out an intensive inspection of the USBRL project on 09.02.2024. Shri Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager/Northern Railway, Shri Sandeep Gupta, CAO/USBRL, Shri Sanjay Gupta, CMD/KRCL, Shri V. P. Singh, PCE/NR, Shri U. C. Joshi, PCOM/NR & Sanjay Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager/Firozpur and other senior officers of USBRL Project were present during the inspection. Emphasise to expedite the remaining work of the project.

During Inspection:
- She commenced inspection from Katra to Tunnel No. T-33 (old T-1). She conducted Motor Trolly inspection, followed by an intensive on foot inspection of ongoing critical work of Tunnel T-33.
- She appreciated the good work being done by the project team under the extremely challenging geological conditions and advised them to follow all safety protocols.
- She directed the project authorities to take all possible measures to expedite the completion of balance works so that the Katra-Reasi section can be linked.

- She continued the motor trolley inspection Tunnel T-34 (old T-2) onwards through Anji Bridge, Reasi Station, Bakkal Station, Chenab Bridge right up to Dugga railway station inspecting track, E&M, S&T and RE works and expressed satisfaction regarding the quality and progress of these works.
- CRB reviewed the progress of the USBRL project at Chenab Bridge site with the officials of NR, KRCL & IRCON.
- She expressed satisfaction at the pace of works and directed the project authorities to closely monitor all balance works especially Tunnel T-1 & Sawalkote yard works to ensure that there are no delays.
