SCC-VRS (JV) bags contract for preparatory works for construction of Sabarmati Maintenance depot

The NHSRCL has issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to SCC-VRS (JV) for the work of Design and Construction of Civil and Building Works for the Depot on Design Build Lump Sum Price Basis for Double Line High Speed Railway At Sabarmati between MAHSR Km. 507.599 and MAHSR Km. 509.726 in the State of Gujarat

In October 2020, the NHSRCL had invited a tender for Tender Number: MAHSR-C-8.

About Sabarmati Maintenance Depot:

  • Sabarmati maintenance depot will be the largest depot among three depots planned for the MAHSR corridor. 
  • Other depots will be at Surat (Gujarat) and Thane (Maharashtra).
  • This tender includes road works, Sewage and drainage works, Earth work, Construction of reservoirs for storage of rooftop rainwater and stormwater,  underground storage tanks, sheds for parking of the General Inspection train (GIT) and Inspection cars for track and other civil works at the site marked for the Sabarmati Depot.
  • The Sabarmati Depot will cover an area of approximately 84 Ha and will be utilized for inspection, maintenance, cleaning and parking of MAHSR train sets. 
  • Train Set washing facilities shall also be located in the Depot.

About MAHSR Project:

  • Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project is 508 Km long first High- Speed Rail (HSR) network planned to be constructed in India. 
  • Out of 508Km, 352Km lies in the State of Gujarat (348Km) and Dadra & Nagar Haveli (4Km) and balance 156Km lies in the State of Maharashtra.
  • The Construction Work is in progress in both Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli where 98% and 100% land has been acquired respectively. 
  • In Gujarat, High Speed Rail alignment passes through eight districts i.e. Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda and Ahmedabad and work is in progress in all the eight districts. 
  • In Maharashtra land acquisition done so far is 40%.
  • The project will entail an investment of 72,000 Crs in the state of Gujarat in both Land & construction. 
  • So far an expenditure of 14,200 Crs has been done. 
  • The project will generate direct & indirect employment of 60,000 in Gujarat state.
