Shri S.V.R. Srinivas, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA reviews progress of Borivali-West (Don Bosco) Metro Station

With the goal of implementing the Metro Catch-Up Plan, Shri S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, on 09.11.2021 inspected the progress of Borivali-West (Don Bosco) Metro Station, in particular entry exits, telecom, signalling & operational issues, on Metro Line 2A.

  • After the overall inspection of the station work, the Metropolitan Commissioner instructed the team to accelerate the interior & lighting work along with ongoing facade work of the station.
  • The Metropolitan Commissioner also reviewed the test results of the PSD & Signalling System at Telecom issues and directed the Metro team to ensure that all the system & safety tests are being conducted seamlessly.
  • On 12.10.2021, The station works on Metro Lines 2A & 7 were underway at full pace with the Metro Catch-Up Plan. 
  • Shri S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, conducted an extensive site visit of the kurar & Dahisar Metro Stations lines 2A & 7 to review the work progress.
  • After reviewing the project, the Metropolitan Commissioner instructed the team to speed up the construction of Entry-Exit points of the stations & directed them to ensure the utmost safety of the workforce at every stage.
  • The team also discussed the progress of various project elements including the signalling & telecom systems & stations utilities works.

I-Girder:

The last I-Girder of Metro Line 2A was erected on 06.09.201 in place at the Adarsh Nagar Junction in the presence of Shri S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

  • The rehabilitation of more than 40 families & businesses was completed in 10 days for this I-Girder launch.
  • The missing link of AC-02 project since more than 4 years was cleared to successfully complete the last viaduct girder.
  • Weighing at 42 tons, this 24 Mt long I-Girder was erected in place in 30 mins with the collaborative effort of MMRDA & DMRC officials. 
  • This was the last launching of I-Girder on viaduct of Metro Line 2A, which completes the track surface for this 18.5km long Metro Line. 
  • Hence, the metro team can now initiate the track laying process on this last stretch of Line 2A.

About Mumbai Metro Line 2A (Dahisar – D.N. Nagar):

  • Metro Line 2A from Dahisar to D N Nagar is 18.589 km. long elevated corridor with 17 stations.
  • It shall provide interconnectivity among the existing Western Express Highway, Western Railway, Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova), the ongoing Metro Lines 2B (D N Nagar to Mandale) & 7 (Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E)) and the proposed Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli).
  • It shall facilitate smooth and efficient interchange with the suburban rail system and MRT system at Dahisar and D N Nagar.
  • It shall provide connectivity between the Western, Central Mumbai and the Northern suburban Mumbai.
  • It shall provide rail based access to the commercial and geographical landmarks in Mumbai.
  • It shall reduce the current travel time by anything between 50% and 75% depending on road conditions.
