Western Railway launches E-Patrolling & Beat Management App for Railway Protection Force

Western Railway’s Mumbai Division has introduced an E-Patrolling & Beat Management App o­n pilot basis. This App which is a first of its kind over Indian Railways, was inaugurated by Shri Alok Kansal – General Manager of Western Railway o­n Wednesday, 2nd December, 2020.

  • According to a Press Release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, the E-Patrolling & Beat Management App has been introduced for the first time over Indian Railways and has been implemented across the Mumbai division of WR as a pilot project o­n the basis of Railway Board’s directives. 
  • It is a matter of great pride that this system has been successfully implemented over W. Rly and is being used by all the posts of RPF for Beat Patrolling & Train Escort duties. 
  • Shri Thakur stated that the main objective of this system is to ensure systematic coverage of Duty Beats in entire Division, to ensure availability of Train Escorting staff in all coaches and to ensure effective supervision & monitoring of staff o­n duty.
  • Giving further details, Shri P. C. Sinha- Principal Chief Security Commissioner of Western Rly enumerated various salient features of this App and stated that this App is a QR Code based non-contact system for supervision of RPF Staff. 
  • 340 QR Code plates have been provided at various locations such as at Stations, Yards, Mid-Section & Trains in the entire Division. 
  • The RPF personnel are required to download this E-Patrolling App & have to scan the QR Code through their mobile handset. 
  • It’s worth mentioning that this RPF E-Patrolling Android App is provisioned for 1586 RPF /RPSF staff to scan QR Code through their mobile. 

Features:

  • The app contains features such as E-Notice Board & Real-time Attendance. 
  • This enables real time monitoring of staff using Geotagging, photos of location with Date & Time.
  • It also helps to provide history data to staff & supervisory officers for further analysis of performance & gauge the need for improvement. 
  • It is a 2-Tier monitoring – i.e both at RPF Post level as well as Divisional level to ensure hierarchical control & supervision with information access o­n jurisdiction basis. 
  • This also ensures Daily & Monthly Analytical Reports with graphical representation and Geospatial Mapping. 
  • Based o­n the analysis of the current system, it will be further evolved and expanded to all the beats in the Division.
